Despite an epic final week collapse from the Bruins to miss the playoffs for the first time in 8 years, yes I will be watching.
(S'OK. Boston didn't have it this year anyway; they would have given the Rangers a much better series than Pittsburgh will though).
I think the Caps, as usual, are going to have a tough go from jump; the Islanders are scary fast and the Caps, well...aren't. Speed isn't everything though, the Caps have the better goalie, so it should be a good series.
Other than that, I have no strong rooting interests outside of the standard mantra: Anyone. But. Montreal.

Haha. Maybe my Sens can take down the Habs. They really rely on one player, Price. Sens have always played well against him. Let's see what Hammond can do.

I'll be watching, even though my Devils are already on the golf course. Again. Three years in a row.
Even though the Islanders are faster than the Capitals, the Islanders have not played well for the last month. Won't be surprised by a Washington series win. Ottawa is red hot right now. . .they can take down the Canadiens. I'd love to see the Penguins knock off the Rangers; not that i'm a Sidney Crosby fan, but I can't stand the Rangers. Pittsburgh is too banged up.
Overall, from my perspective. . .anybody but the Rangers. Their fans are insufferable.

Time for the real season, at least now that the Hawks are a real team. And, hey, Patrick Kane has been cleared for contact and may be play Game 1. Yes, please.

Or worse yet, someone pining for Bobby Clarke and Dave Schultz...

Can't say that I pine for Clarke and Schultz, although I did like Bill Barber and Rick MacLeish. I grew up as a Rangers fan in North Jersey, and never forgave Schultz for what he did to Dale Rolfe. EDIT: Close guess. Paiement turns 60 in October.

With everyone but Toronto and Edmonton in the mix, all of my Canadian friends are just dying for this to be the year that the Cup will go back to Canada. So, obviously, I hope this doesn't happen. Not that I have anything against any of the Canadian teams - except Montreal of course - it's just way too much fun teasing them that we've taken their trophy and will never, ever, ever give it back. I guess if I had to pick a team I'm really pulling for this year, it'd probably be the Blues. So, clearly, they will lose to Minnesota.

As a Canadian it doesn't really bother me or anyone that I know that the Cup has been won by an American team. We know the teams that rely heavily on Canadian players will win the Cup. We also know when it's best on best on a world stage everyone is playing for second place. And we also know when USA hockey finally produces a generational talent Canada produces an even better one.
It helps us sleep at night.

Speaking of the Bruins, and maybe Boston fans will disagree with me, Chiarelli should be canned. Trading Seguin for less than full return (or trading him at all) was a fireable offense in its own right, but missing the playoffs in a weak Eastern Conference with a max payroll should seal the deal.
Back on topic, lots of good first round matchups. West is especially tough yet again, though with plenty of question marks in goal. Rangers should win the East, but then you see they have to face Crosby and Malkin in Round 1 and that is no treat. Who knows what will be happen but should be another fun ride to June.

You'd be hard pressed to find a more qualified or competent GM than Pete Chiarelli. He'd be able to write his own ticket. Good chance the Sens would scoop him up, or at least try.
Question is does he want to go from working for one donkey owner to another.

Question is does he want to go from working for one donkey owner to another. I think before even considering firing Peter Chiarelli (or Claude Julien, for that matter), Bruins ownership -- AND Bruins fans -- should hop aboard the wayback machine and take a gander at what the franchise looked like before both got there. No, they shouldn't be fired. So, clearly, they will be.

I'm SHOCKED, I tell you. Wait, no. What's the word that means the complete opposite of shocked? Whatever. My boss just gave me tickets to the Caps game tonight, so I'll worry about this another time.

Go Isles! Even though they got Okposo back and have sucked for more than a month. Afraid they are out of gas.

Boom. nesn.com/2015/04/boston-bruins-fire-general-manager-peter-chiarelli/Does Claude Julien survive, or is it simply that they'll make the new GM fire him? Not for nothin', but if Zdeno Chara isn't 38 years old (and showing every bit of it) and missing 19 games, and if David Krejci doesn't miss 40+ games, you think the Bruins are missing the playoffs?
