Regardless of who gets the minutes the great news is that we're not dependent on a few guys to get it done. If someone (or multiple guys) is struggling, we've got someone to pick up the slack. More competition in practice for minutes breeds better focus and play overall. I'm getting excited!!

Not sure if it's been discussed already, and I'm cognizant of potentially reading too much into a couple good performances against weak European teams, but is it possible that this kid breaks into the starting lineup for us? I'm in the camp that Tre/DSR/LJ/Cope/Govan is probably our most talented lineup, but that we're probably better off bringing Tre off the bench, otherwise we have no reserve ballhanders. Thus I've thus tended to think that DSR/LJ/Paul/Ike/Govan made the most sense. But is it crazy to think that Derrickson may be even with or ahead of White already? I think a Copeland/Derrickson/Govan front court might fit together really nicely. In fact a DSR/Peak/Copeland/Derrickson/Govan lineup has a sort of NBA feel to it, with each player having NBA measurables for their position and each player being a threat to score on every possession. Having 2 talented and experienced guys like Campbell and White off the bench would be very valuable too. Combine that with whomever emerges from the Agau/Campbell/Cameron mix, a potential energy guy in Kaleb and hopefully an improved Hayes as a situational backup center, and this team really does look like it could be pretty deep. I know we go through that same "Wow we're going to be so deep this year, JTIII is going to HAVE TO play AT LEAST a 10 man rotation!" kind of thought process every off season, and this year like every other he'll likely stick to his best 8-9 guys except when circumstances demand it. But it's starting to look like we may have 7 guys who are legitimately Big East starter caliber, and another 5 who are good enough to be BE role players, the best of whom will round out our rotation. In other words, I think this actually IS one of the deepest teams III has had, and hopefully we can make the most of that. I don't really take too much from this at all to be honest. When you beat a team by 60 clearly they are not on your level... We all know all those guys are talented who the minutes go to might depend on the night, you could throw Agau in there as well since he's probably the best passer in the high post out of that group and it's best defender... Once kids get scouted and game planned against we will find out what they have. Until then it's nice to get reps in and get the overall confidence level of the team up...

Angel Delgado was mostly a beast rebounding -- I doubt he slumps on that point. For most of our players, I don't think they were consistent enough last year to regress. But they might not make as much of a leap as we hope.

I think it's a good question; I'm not actually sure what freshman I think regresses. But I bet it's more like a Blueitt -- who relied much more on shooting -- than a Delgado. But I could be wrong.

“I’m very motivated,” Smith-Rivera said of the upcoming season. “This being my last year it’s kind of like this is the perfect time to do it. That’s the biggest message I want to get across to the guys, is the years go by fast and this being my senior year, it felt like my freshman year was last year. I want it to be as big a deal for them as it is for me, being the last opportunity that I have to be a part of the March Madness in general and to make a run in the tournament.”
Sounds like a leader, one who is ready to rock in March. Gotta love that kid. Senior leader, a returning BE First team guard, terrific rising soph class and some very impressive frosh. Let's Go Hoyas!

10. Isaac Copeland, forward, Georgetown
The centerpiece of a heralded five-man recruiting class, Copeland showed up in Washington D.C. last year as Rivals.com's No. 23 player in the class of 2014. Though he endured some rough patches last season, Copeland hinted at his potential to develop into one of the top stretch forwards in the country. He dropped 34 points and grabbed 12 rebounds over two consecutive games against Villanova and Marquette in January and recorded 44 points and 24 boards combined during a three-game winning streak the next month to help Georgetown finish tied for second place in the Big East standings and earn a No. 4 seed in the NCAAs after they missed the field the previous year. There should be more minutes and possessions available for Copeland (and other Georgetown players) in 2015-16 with center Josh Smith, who led the Hoyas with a 28.3 usage rate, and forward Mikael Hopkins departing in the off-season.
List of Impact Sophs, Blueitt listed at #8 lol

As we quickly approach the 2015-16 college basketball season, a lot of talk will center around on who will break out in the coming year. Well, the Big East has quite a few under-the-radar players ready to break out and become household names. So, what you will read below are 10 candidates in the Big East who are poised to take their games to a new level. For the purpose of this exercise, no newcomers (whether freshman or transfers) will be listed in this column. I’ll tackle newcomers in a different column soon enough. In my humble opinion, those listed here have not significantly broke out just and there are no quantitative parameters or arbitrary numbers that back my claim. Some would say that players like Trevon Bluiett, Angel Delgado, Isaiah Whitehead and Luke Fischer (who will not be listed here) have not fully broken out yet, but I think we have seen enough from those players to know they are in for great things, so they will be excluded, too. Also not included will be any player who have for the better part of the word, plateaued. Meaning, they are solid and we know what we should get from them and these include players such as Tommy Hamilton of DePaul, Andrew Chrabascz of Butler and Myles Davis of Xavier. The only quantitative measure excluding a breakout candidate is a player who has already made the all-Big East Team team or honorable mention Honorable Mention: Kyron Cartwright, Providence, Tre Campbell, Georgetown, Jalen Lindsey, Providence, Paul White, Georgetown, Kris Jenkins, Villanova and Phil Booth, Villanova. 6. L.J. Peak, Georgetown Peak is one of a few intriguing sophomores on Georgetown ready to move on to a bigger role. Peak should fully blossom this season, as he showed more than enough last season that he is ready for the big stage. He is coming off a season in which he averaged 7.9 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. With a little more consistency, Peak is ready to make strides in his game and be a player Hoyas’ coach John Thompson III will lean on for scoring. 3. Isaac Copeland, Georgetown With a quick release, great range and the ability to work inside and out, Copeland could be in line for huge things this season. The versatile forward is coming off a season in which he averaged 6.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting .389 percent from three-point range. Considering the Hoyas lost Josh Smith, Mikael Hopkins, Aaron Bowen and Jabril Trawick, Copeland will need to expand his game, and look for him to do that in spades this season. He and Peak, will prove to be a nightmare to match up for. www.todaysu.com/big-east-today/big-east-basketball-10-breakouts-to-watch-for-in-2015-16/

A good sign - they have not been wasting their time working on their dance moves! Notice how Govan moves his feet and not just his upper body. Do the same on D young buck!
