Well, we did see that Maryland's failure to properly prepare a backup point guard for playing in a tournament game cost them, when Melo Trimble was kicked in the head.

All the local teams are out too. What were the odds of that happening. Hampton Maryland VCU UVA Georgetown

if maryland and uva get bounced out on the first weekend / do not make the tourney for next 8 years, i wonder what happens to their coaches. probably nothing right?

if maryland and uva get bounced out on the first weekend / do not make the tourney for next 8 years, i wonder what happens to their coaches. probably nothing right? Tony Bennett has coached UVa for six seasons. Three of them he didn't make the NCAAs. In one, he was a 10 seed and failed to upset the 7 seed. In the second, he earned a 1 seed but lost far earlier than anticipated -- in the sweet sixteen. And in the third, he also lost far earlier than anticipated -- in the "third" round as a 2 seed. He's basically followed the "early JTIII" blueprint, except that this year's team didn't get to the Final Four. That doesn't quite meet your "out of the first weekend" requirement, but losing in the Sweet Sixteen as a 1 seed is pretty disappointing. In any event, his progression of regular season success has been nothing short of spectacular. Let's say they take a fairly small step back next year (perhaps because of a key injury or illness -- like they had this year and we've had multiple years) get into the NCAAs with a 6 or 7 seed and lose in the first round (or the second). And then maybe they don't qualify for a year after this great run, but start to re-build immediately thereafter and have a year (that would be year 9) essentially equivalent to the one we just had. My point is that it'd be easy to envision a ten or so year run with only the one sweet sixteen. And anyone that would want to fire the guy should be tarred and feathered.

Richaud Pack played a lot for them this year NJ.. It was the third string point that needed the extra minutes in the OOC games to be ready for the NCAAT. Huge mistake by Turgeon, hope it doesn't cost him his job.

I didn't know there was a respectable way to burn a couch. I think you have to first find a couch with a bunch of drunken MD students passed out on it and light it on fire in the name of the future.
