That's some early schedule. I hope the guys come together really quickly. I know the hardest steel is forged in the hottest fires but damn. That's some welcome to college ball for the freshmen. Put in work Hoyas!

Where does the 5PM tip-off time come from? I didn't see it in press releases, just trying to confirm. No, of course I am not already planning my travel - that would be stalker crazy...

oh, I thought they were saying 5PM for the 'cuse game.
NYC doesn't sleep - time of the game is irrelevant...

I like how this schedule sets up. We definitely get tested early and could perhaps be one of those teams that is better than our record, at least early on. But I also like that we have a couple of great opportunities to get wins against major conference competition. Frankly, I like our early chances against a rebuilding but talented Wisconsin team early in the season, and I like our chances against Syracuse at home in December. We typically play pretty well in neutral court games during the season, and I tend to like our chances of getting at least one win up in New York. I'm not taking anything at all for granted, but I am excited that we could head into Christmas break with two wins over decent teams from major conferences without even having to pull a major upset. Of course, we have a real marquee opportunity against Maryland, and we might get to play Duke as well. If we could grab either of those games, it could really help our seeding in March. Additionally, even if we struggle against the top-tier teams, we still have some opportunities to learn and prepare for league and hopefully tournament play. To me, this schedule shows just how well the staff has adapted to the current state of the Big East, and it positions us to be able to compete for a strong seed in March.
Like last year, I also hope our league can pull out some big wins in the non-conference competition. The Big East's strong RPI last year really helped our seeding in the tournament. This year, as a team hopefully poised to make a run, any benefit in terms of seeding could help us get out of the first weekend and possibly beyond. So, at least until December 31, I'll be hoping that the rest of the league can get some big wins as well.

Poor rhyme scheme, bad grammar - the perfect snapshot of Syracuse.

Until the Big East conference strengthens across the board, we need numerous OOC challenges both to test ourselves at a top level, and to bolster our RPI. 5 tough games out of 13 is reasonable - although 3 of them in the space of 6 days is pushing it a little.

Saturday BE games:

Wow. Much better for us out-of-towners. Only missing Creighton, SJU, and SHU.

So we are on the main Fox broadcast network four times and on CBS twice. Looks like the rest of our games are in pretty good time slots on FS1. Hopefully we've got a team that can back all of this up, but we really can't complain about the lack of exposure this year.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure that Bill Raftery has never called any games on FOX, and I assume his CBS contract prohibits that. So he's not going to be calling the Syracuse game unless things have changed.
