The dunk is an easy excuse but if we weren't Gtown fans we wouldn't like Brilly either. He is exactly what Gtown needed when we recruited him. A tough guy that loves being hated by the opposition. If his ankle is okay and he can play at near 90%, I hope Utah fans boo Brilly like crazy. It will focus him and make him play better. I just hope he controls that rage because it came really close to getting him a tech last night. Absolutely. I am confident I would despise him if he wasn't on my team. Man, he had a great game last night in terms of intensity, hustle, and defense. But he really does need to control himself. Not just the silly contact, but the out-of-control drives winding up with him having no options but to just throw the ball back out and hope a teammate gets it. I was totally fine with the dunk, given the EWU coach talking smack and all the negativity directed at the Hoyas on favor of EWU. I believe -- though am not certain -- that on the final DSR foul shot of the game, there's a closeup of him right in the ear of one of the EWU players (Harvey?) talking smack and pointing to the scoreboard. As I'm sure everyone saw, when we were up fairly big, he also gave the universal "bring it on" motion to Harvey when Harvey had the ball. I think it baited their whole team into taking a series of 29 foot jump shots when they could have (as future events would show) could have had some success going hard to the hoop.

Absolutely perfect. Didn't like when he did it against the Hall a few weeks back, but against that clown of a coach? The dude basically asked for it. A controlled Trawick is a serious weapon, especially in this tournament. He too often goes over the line. If he can keep the aggression in check, though, look out the next few (!) weeks.

I think a coach once said that if you don't want the other team running up the score against you at the end of a game, play better defense and offense throughout the game.
I have no problem with Jabril's dunk but he has been a guy who commits a ton of fouls during his four years and that should not be mistaken for being "aggressive" - it is just poor defense. He was better at the end of the year this year and I hope he can keep it under control Saturday.

Unfortunately since Utah is now a Pac 12 team, we will have to listen to Reggie Miller trying to put us down every chance he gets. But it worked out okay last night, so . . .

I like what I saw from PW last night. His confidence seems to be on the rise.

Concerned about Utah's outside shooting. They shoot alot of 3's and they hit them at a high rate.

I'm still basking in the W from last night.
I really hope the guys play well and figure out a way to win against Wisconsin. Sweet 16 would be so nice.

Concerned about Utah's outside shooting. They shoot alot of 3's and they hit them at a high rate. They also have size. I have watched them play several times and they do remind me of Xavier in some ways. A huge challenge for the HOYAS. I think that Copeland is a big factor in this game and hope he can play defense and rebound enough to stay on the floor. Smith would be a bonus, but not expecting much at this point as he seems to be unable to avoid the fouls.

Dunking with a lead in the final seconds is poor sportsmanship. Fouling intentionally in the final seconds while down 8-10 points is not. Predicting a win on a radio show solely to get attention is not.
Got it. It's hard to keep up with these things.

Utah message board is www.utefans.net/list.phpThey just don't like us. The only specific was Jabril's dunk at the end. So far they just aren't particularly pleasant (politically correct term) The dunk is an easy excuse but if we weren't Gtown fans we wouldn't like Brilly either. He is exactly what Gtown needed when we recruited him. A tough guy that loves being hated by the opposition. If his ankle is okay and he can play at near 90%, I hope Utah fans boo Brilly like crazy. Jabril is a classic instigator, a villain but he also has some skill and is productive as well on both ends. His role is a necessary component for any good team. You need a guy willing to deliver the hard foul, get in the other team's head and set the physical tone. And if he was not a Hoya, we would all think he was a jerk, but he is our jerk, which makes him an awesome member of this team that we will miss next season.

Everybody is on the dunk because of betting disguising their argument. The game was at 8 or 8.5 in most books at tipoff. People are just upset they thought they had a backdoor cover and it was snatched from them.

Ignoring context, and just living by black and white rules must make your world a really great place to live. For the rest of us that live in the real world, we will form our own conclusions. Got it?

Utah defends -- Josh and Copeland absolutely have to contribute something, otherwise they clamp down on the shooters and there's nothing left to guard.
Josh is a good kid but sometimes I wonder how much he really wants to play basketball. It's the NCAA tournament, and he's a very important player -- no one his size who is really into the game picks up his third foul nine seconds into the second half on a lazy reach-in fifteen feet from the basket. Utah's seven-footer will have him for dinner if he brings that kind of effort Saturday.

I wasn't telling you what to think. I was pointing out the contrary reactions to events that happen in sports games and how perception is often shaped around what people believe about a team in the first place. Sorry if that ruffled your feathers. I'll depart.
