We all want Georgetown to be a great team. I agree we have a chance to do that next season. The issue is whether or not the perception of the conference as a whole will influence our continued ability to be a great team. Your post begins with perception being ridiculous and end with the reassurance that the Big East will always be a respected league. If perception doesn't matter, then why are we talking about respect? Conference doesn't preclude national title hopes, but look at the "expectations" thread: if we're gauging by regular season success, do we want to be in a Gonzaga-like situation where we just beat up on a good mid-major conference every year? What about Xavier's A-10 run from 2002-11? You also said in another thread NC State has more talent than Villanova. So a team that steamrolled through our conference has less talent than the 6th best team in the ACC. Is this not concerning? Do you not think that conference affiliation might have had something to do with acquiring that talent? We have a multi-platform deal with Fox Sports, so yes, many of our games could cease to be on television. You can find several threads complaining about FS's distribution handling relative to that of other providers. We're also playing in an arena three times the size of our undergraduate student body, so interest from the casual local fan is important. If this is true then does the New Big East have a talent issue? No it's not concerning to me at all. I'm not a Villanova fan. I'm a Georgetown fan. I could care less

I could care less I don't care if the Big East has a talent issue, or not. I know that Georgetown doesn't have a talent issue. Of the four players in our freshman class, three of them have NBA potential. We have a potential franchise center coming in, and we have a rising senior point guard who is one of the best in college basketball. Georgetown is plenty talented. I don't worry about anyone else.

Isn't he sitting on a stool now too instead of standing on the sideline, an even better use of the track suit. Huggins is great, I raelly want him to beat those guys. Have Huggins' players started graduating, or do they still just exhaust their eligibility? Huggins is worse than Calipari. Just as shady, but his players don't graduate (and not because they are going to the NBA). There's the DUI he got and the various legal problems his coaches and players have had. Those were great too. And the cheap shot on Melo Trimble was classic Huggins. (And why you would ever want WVU fans to be happy is beyond me) I do not have the same negative feelings toward Huggins or WVU that most folks on here do. Single point in time mistakes are unfortunate but happen so I do not kill a guy over a DWI. Systematic cheating like Boeheim is another thing altogether. Honestly, I do not mind WVU because they do not pretend to be something they are not and neither does Huggins. Their fans are annoying and completely rude, but so many other fanbases are just as awful so I cannt really get too worked up about that. And I will never root for Kentucky/Calipari or for UMD's success.

Id like to see UK lose, but I'm not going to lie, I don't want them to lose to WVU.

Question: If the bracket was set up where the team that cared less about academics advanced, would the Sweet 16 look much different?

Refs read the scouting report that WVU fouls alot and feel like they've got to blow their whistles. Some real head-scratching refereeing here.

Chris Mack is going to be asked to go to every clinic to teach the 1-3-1. Nice cash flow coming in for a defense he put in at end of season.

JT Jr used to play a lot of 1-3-1 in the old days..late 70's/early 80's.

Teams and players that were impressive tonight:
1. Notre Dame...kudos to them for getting the monkey off their backs and making it to the Elite for the 1st time since the Jimmy Carter Administration
2. Kentucky...they just took the will and heart from West Virginia within the 1st 10 mins of the game and had the most impressive win of the night.
3. Xavier and Stainbrook....they showed up tonight and showed that the Big East can compete with the Big 5 in this post-season. Stainbrook was the best player on the floor for much of the night.

ND looked awesome. I will eat crow on that one. I think if they were playing anyone else, they might make the final four. But, there are not going to beat Kentucky.

I had no idea that ND was so small. As long as UK crashes the offensive boards and doesn't settle for jumpers, ND won't be able to stop them, and I don't think UK will have too much trouble against a small ball lineup--their bigs/wings are more than athletic enough to stick with ND's players. I see this one playing out like the 06-07 & 07-08 Georgetown-ND games at Verizon, where the Hoyas didn't have any trouble defending ND. The 2007 BET game against ND is probably what Brey has planned, except that the UK has better perimeter defenders than the 06-07 team had, so I don't see them having as much trouble with Grant as the Hoyas did with Russell Carter & Tory Jackson. Also, I doubt UK will give up 24 offensive rebounds like the Hoyas did.
