zagsblog.com/articles/source-depaul-job-is-ben-howlands-to-turn-down/#more-131313Looks like Howland might be the guy… The DePaul coaching job is “Ben Howland’s to turn down,” one source close to the situation told SNY.tv. Valparaiso coach Bryce Drew, La Salle coach Dr. John Giannini, Buffalo coach Bobby Hurley, Wisconsin-Green Bay coach Brian Wardle and Manhattan coach Steve Masiello have also been linked to the DePaul job, which came open when Oliver Purnell was fired last week.

Makes sense. There were rumors, back in 2010, that Howland was going to leave the UCLA job for DePaul, so this mating ritual has been going for a long time.
On a selfish note, if this means that Tavaras Hardy isn't leaving Georgetown to go back home to Chicago for a coaching job, I'm all in favor of it.

Sounds like Howland to MS State . That's a shame, he would be terrific for the conference.

SEC schools making a push to be relevant again. Gotta love football money.

SEC schools making a push to be relevant again. Gotta love football money. That will become a bigger and bigger problem for non-Power 5 schools. The Big East needs to make retaining and bringing in top coaches a big priority.

ESPN is reporting Bobby Hurley is the front runner for the job now... This would be a strong hire. And adding another strong younger coach to the conference.

ESPN is reporting Bobby Hurley is the front runner for the job now... That would be 3 Dookies within a 1 hour radius. Wojo in Milwaukee, Chris Collins at Northwestern and Hurley at DePaul.

That's a lot of floor slapping.

CBS Chicago reporting that Bryce Drew is the leading candidate. Conspiracy theorist might think that Hurley info on ESPN could be part of a misinformation campaign.

Hurley would be better off at St. John's. Or Seton Hall.

Hurley would be better off at St. John's. Or Seton Hall. Ideally DePaul gets Bryce Drew and SJU / SHU gets Hurley. It'd be nice to add two young, talented coaches to the conference

I agree. Hurley would be much better at St. John's or Seton Hall. That NJ/NY connection. Plus he is a darn good coach. But I also agree that two duties could be a bit much.

SHU isn't buying out Willard. linkAnd if they are, it wouldn't be for Bobby Hurley, IMO. Wrong Hurley.
