Why is this kid popping so early? It's going to be a long 2 yrs before he can sign no matter whom he chooses. I like our odds but I would feel better if I knew the kid was somehow connected to the program. JGreen's cousin or a life long fan. If he blows up there could be problems. Or he could regress like Bolden......just saying!

Looks like Josh Hart plus. That's probably a bad comp but what first came to mind.

Or maybe he wants to be able to focus on his game? Or maybe he just sees an appealing opportunity?

Feeling very good about this one. Great to hear; thanks. His final three is certainly a strange mix, and with his potential it's a little unusual for him to set a commit date so early.

Well, we've lost two recruiting battles to VCU recently so not as confident in this matchup as I would have been a few years back...

Have we lost a recruit to VCU since Shaka stopped coaching there?
Would be a great early get...hope it works out.

Reminds me a bit of Hollis with a little more dog in him. Interesringly, Hollis committed to us fairly early in the process as well. Some kids and their families just know where they want to go to school. They are simply cut out for Georgetown. If Foster ends up at georgetown (and I think he will) it's a win for him, his family and the school.

I know many believe Copeland is gone after this year but lets say he stays....as well as everyone else....
Would this be our only recruit for 2017?

If everyone stays at the end of next year, it could be difficult to aggressively recruit for 2017 even if they suspect someone going pro early, but we will likely have more than one scholarship and know somewhat in advance, if only because: * We don't completely fill 2016 * We have a transfer * Someone goes pro after this coming year or * Someone stays but is obviously very likely to go pro after 2016-2017

Great to hear so much positive mojo on this one, and it would be a huge boost to lock up a 2017 recruit early. Fingers crossed.

I don't see the Hollis comparison. Even coming out of HS, Hollis was a lot taller and more of a knock down shooter with less ability to drive.

You may be right, I've never seen Foster play in person so I very well may be off....but not for the reasons you mentioned. Yes, Hollis was taller, but he was not a knock down shooter in high school, at least at Loyola he wasn't. (I watched him play at least 10 times in person, a pretty decent sample size). He got most of his points with his midrange game, his drives to the bucket and from the line. He was long and lanky, and was a pretty good finisher at the rim (at the time).

Tyler is a lot more ball-in-hand than Hollis ever was at the same stage. The two have similar body types, though. But different mindsets as well, in terms of going to the rack. Hope we get him. One thing I've learned is never count a recruit until you hear it from the recruit

How good is this kid? Is he a high major prospect? Good but a really high ceiling and Yes... I understand rankings have their problems, but they can be useful for those of us not plugged into the recruiting scene in determining what type of prospect we're looking at. Doesn't look like the more comprehensive rankings aren't out yet for 2017, so maybe some of the gurus here can provide some insight where he'd be ranked. So, in terms of Foster's talent, is he a top 50 player? A top 75 player? Is he similar (in talent level) to Copeland, where he's a top 30 guy with potential to be an NBA lottery pick if he puts it all together?
