Sorry board police, but I needed to start a new thread because that other Ewing thread lost its way. The benefits of Ewing far out weigh the negatives. Whether Ewing contributes to the team or not, the GU program would have taken a giant step forward by having him on the Hill Top! Name recognition aside, Ewing brings intangibles that cannot be measured. For example, riches! Having the son of a NBA millionaire on your team benefits the players more than anyone else. Just for argument sake, lets say Ewing gets an apartment off campus. In his apt. he has a Plasma tv, a Bose Stereo, a Sony Play Station, a X-Box or any other hip do-dads young men like to have. Lets also say for argument sake, Pop Ewing decides his son should have a pool table, or that Jr can use his allowance money to keep the refrigerator full of top shelf food. On Friday night, Ewing Jr takes his teammates out for pizza and soda or orders 20 Dominoes pizzas and have them delivered to his apt. Jr is also going to have a pretty nice ride as well. Again for argument sake, lets say Jr has an Infiniti truck that seats eight. This opens up the entire city to him and his teammates. Now the Bball players can travel in style to parties at Howard or Morgan where some of the finest women matriculate.
When a recruit comes to visit, do you take him to the Tombs? No, you take him to Ewing’s off campus pad, were he can eat well, play the latest video games and relax in style. If the fellas so desire, they could have a couple of co-eds come over for a night of video game playing. (As many of us know, living off campus, and having a plush apt as an undergrad keeps co-eds knocking on your door constantly.) When they get tired of playing video games, they can jump into the Infiniti and drive to that “hot” party at Howard or Bowie State, or the Dreams Night Club where they can see Byonce perform. Ewing being the generous teammate that he is foots the bill for everyone. In short, Ewing becomes that “friend to the program” that the NCAA can’t touch. There is no NCAA rule that prevents a parent (Ewing Sr) from lavishing his son (Ewing Jr) with the finest things in life. If some of those lavishings spill over to his teammates then so be it!

I started to write a long response to this and realized its not worth it. I'll just summarize - that was one of the dumbest posts I have ever read, made worse by the fact that you started a new thread to do it.

So it doesn't matter how Ewing Jr. plays basketball at all because his dad is rich?

Mr, Omega, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this chat room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I kinda liked the post (I assume it is a joke), but then again, the Billy Madison reference was nice, too.

I know I have written some off the wall posts before. But I don't think I could even top this!!! This is the dumbest post I've ever read on this board. Whether it was meant to be funny or not, it was ignorant and insulting to the GU program, JTIII, and PE2. What you are suggesting could bring about NCAA sanctions. Richard Jefferson, who is best friends with Luke Walton, was suspended for like two games because he went to a Laker Game with Luke with tickets bought by Luke's famous father Bill Walton while they were at Arizona. GU doesn't bring in the type of kids who are enamored with the "lifestyles of the rich and famous". We get kids who want to play basketball and be serious about academics. This ain't He Got Game.

Omega - you owe me 7 cents. I think the time I wasted reading your entire post was AT LEAST worth 7 cents.
Can I have that 30 seconds of my life back?

Omega, as much as I too would like to have the team have a good time, I think it is most important what PEJr (should he come here) can contribute in the classroom and on the floor.
Frankly, it'd be nice to have a recruiting edge anywhere, but I'm not so sure that allowing PEJr to have such an effect would be kosher with the NCAA.
Is he going to take a scholarship?

funny sh-tufffff!
During my GU years, Domino's used to be a special treat and I have to admit my numerous visits to Popeye's (corner of Prospect & Wisconsin). I haven't been back in a few years, so I'm not sure if it's still there. What was that sandwich place on Prospect and 32 or 31? Great subs...

Wow that was a great post. You people on the board take things people say here to seriously. I don't know how many times people have responded to things that I have written as if it was a serious post. You all need to loosen up a lot. Damn Hippies !!
Although I agree, that will be a sweet pad. Not only can he afford to drive to Howard and Morgan state, his dad has connects to famous strip clubs in Atlanta. We all heard the news story. Why would he have to drive to Morgan State all the way in Baltimore when he could hire full time live in strippers at his off campus pad. Now that is something recruts are going to want to see. Let's all donate things too so he can get on MTV cribs.
Also Ewing need a theme song. After watching a the Karate Kid on channel 600 and something and seeing the new South Park episodes I nominate "You're the Best" by Joe Esposito. Don't forget the inspiring guitar solo.
Try to be best ‘Cause you’re only a man And a man’s gotta learn to take it
Try to believe Though the going gets rough That you gotta hang tough to make it
History repeats itself Try and you’ll succeed
Never doubt that you’re the one And you can have your dreams!
You’re the best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own
Fight ‘til the end Cause your life will depend On the strength that you have inside you
Ah you gotta be proud starin’ out in the cloud When the odds in the game defy you
Try your best to win them all and one day time will tell when you’re the one that’s standing there you’ll reach the final bell!
You’re the best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ho-how-ho-own
INSPIRING GUITAR SOLO
You’re the best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own
Fight ‘til you drop never stop can’t give up Til you reach the top (FIGHT!) you’re the best in town (FIGHT!) Listen to that sound A little bit of all you got Can never bring you down
You’re the best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around!
repeat to fade, occasional background shouts of “Oh Ye-eah!”

You should at least get 25 cents - the "kicking and screaming" rate. 25 cents? Hell, even columnist Norman Chad of the Washington Post kicks back a $1.25.... What Omega's done borders on the criminal!

this is the only crap thing about the board. nobody gets when people are joking. This is CLEARLY an example of sarcasm, and suddenly everyone's going crazy telling the guy his post is dumb. Re-read the post guys, there is no way this guy is serious.

I don't find it amusing. And to bring up institutions like Howard, Morgan, and Bowie St. in such a way was insulting as far as I am concerned. For those who may not know, they are educational institutions just like GU.

I respectfully disagree the_way. (my post will be edited if I don't respect everyone like some sort of dirty hippies) But, I'll talk about Morgan State that way if I want. This is American!!! Well not his board. This board is a dictatorship and I love it!!!. My point is that everyone knows that is where the fine honeys are. I mean I've seen the girls at GW and American. Not the pick of the litter. Navy girls are ....well lesbians. Yes thats right I, said it. You all are thinking it and I said it. Virginia girls are crazy. I know I dated one. Also everyone knows Georgetown girls are prude. That is until you put some ruffies in their drink. Now don't get me started on Maryland women. If you even want to call them women.
