If implemented, I don't see this affecting football all that much, but basketball would probably be severely impacted. I can see almost every one-and-done (and a good percentage of two-and-done) player flocking to NBDL/Europe instead of the college route.

Personally, I don't see this being implemented... ever... in any sport.

If the conference is smart, they'll stick with the status quo. It'd be huge for recruiting (not just with the one & done types, but with all quality players), and I don't think that rule change would solve any problem that we, or any other program in the conference, is actually having. It's such a classic NCAA move to make a massive, sweeping rule change solely to address the actions of approximately 10 basketball players per year.

By the way, here's the list of one & done players from Big East schools:
1. Ricky Ledo--Providence 2. Omar Cook--St. John's 3. Maurice Harkless--St. John's 4. Tim Thomas--Villanova 5. Eddie Griffin--Seton Hall
Marquette and Creighton have never had a sophomore drafted. No school has had more than three sophomores drafted (Georgetown and DePaul each have had three)

The only one of the three not to win an NCAA tournament game.

I'd forgotten about Andrew Gaze. He took some very challenging courses during his one season in South Orange: www.nytimes.com/1989/04/14/sports/gaze-is-gone-but-questions-arise.html?pagewanted=2School administrators said Gaze was a legitimate student who took nine credits in the first semester and passed all his courses. Gaze said his courses for the current semester, totaling 12 credits, were ethics, first-aid, youth activities and creative movement. He said he still owed a paper in ethics, and had arranged with his instructor to send it in before the semester ends. He said he had completed his requirements in the other courses.

Personally, I don't see this being implemented... ever... in any sport. Appropriate of nothing, it actually is still the rule in major (IRA) men's rowing, which is not an NCAA sport.

There would be an immediate call for more scholarships so teams could have a full roster of eligible players plus enough freshman each year to form a team of scholarships and walk-ons to play a dozen or so games against other freshmen and juco teams.

I cannot imagine the SEC going for this.
