At the 1:00 minute mark of the 2nd video, this kid substitutes in like a champ. I've never seen his equal.
Also I enjoyed the stylized 10 seconds on his jersey number. You can just find a #40 anywhere these days. We need to lock this kid up.

There is a role on any team for someone who can substitute like that.

@jeffborzello: Illinois head coach John Groce watched 2016 center Barret Benson tonight, per his AAU coach. Harvard also came to see him tonight.
There's not much info on Benson right now but I do like what I'm reading & seeing..
I hope the staff keeps close tabs on him when the aau season kicks off..

Not really worried about a big for 2016. I think 2017 is where we need to make a splash there.

In an admittedly small sample size, from the videos I've seen of him he looks pretty slow and mechanical. On the other hand, young bigs take time to grow into their body and become more agile/mobile. Plus, he does seem to have nice touch on his jumper. It will be interesting to see if his athleticism can improve his senior year just like Govan's did.

6. Barret Benson, 6-10, C, Hinsdale South The true on-the-block big man has a soft touch, terrific hands and sports several high-major offers. His face-up game has also come a long way in the past six months. While he may lack ideal athleticism or pop off the floor, Benson, who continues to grow into his body and game, is still a long-range big man prospect –– and those types tend to be highly coveted and hard to find. highschoolcubenews.com/2015/06/16/henricksen-look-top-10-class-2016/His game is def not sexy but effective

Are there concerns about his academics?

Are there concerns about his academics? It's a Stanford thing Frazier, they won't offer a kid unless his grades are up to their standards, they treat sat/act scores the same way.. I've read a few different articles that mention he's a high academic kid..

www.theintentionalfoul.com/Senior big man Barrett Benson received a lot of attention this past winter for his play in the Chicago suburbs and the four-star played a solid game this morning. He hit face-up jump shots and converted in the paint. He didn’t try to force the issue and let the game come to him.Looks to have the skills to play the 5 well at the next level..
