Going to need a big game from Hopkins. Especially when they play Stainbrook and Reynolds together. Reynolds destroyed us last game and Hop was the only one who could guard him. He abused White last game and Isaac didn't play much, but I imagine he'll be too strong for Ike too. Need Hopkins to be available to guard Reynolds. Last game we turned it over 16 times and shot 15% from 3. We were also massively in foul trouble Xavier shot 29 Fts and we had 4 players with 4 or more fouls. Hopefully get a more even whistle tonight, take care of the ball better as we have been and knock down some 3's. That's a great point. If I recall correctly, Ike got pushed around a bit too. I wonder if we can do some offense/defense subs because our 2-big lineup is such a mess offensively, but if Paul and Ike can't hold position against Reynolds in the post, we'll have issues on D. Xavier may be the only team in the big east where our 2-big lineup may be a decent idea. Of course, with foul trouble and conditioning, this really isn't feasible for the whole game with just 2 legitimate bigs. And I can't see us putting Hayes in with Josh or Hopkins as I expect Hayes would do worse that Copeland or White on D with either matchup and the overall lineup would be much worse on O.

I wouldn't count on it. Whenever they offer last minute discounted ticket promos like the one I got in my inbox last night at 8pm, I assume that means there are a lot of empty 100-level seats. Not to go all thebin on the ticket office, but maybe offering the promos a few days in advance would increase the likelihood of boosting attendance. I'm not at the stage in my life where I can easily audible with less than 24 hrs notice. Shame on you. You should be a season ticket holder. The very idea that you're relying on hearing about ticket promos to drive your decision about whether to attend? My heart breaks. If Bill Brasky is going to have 4,000 posts on this Board and live in DC but not possess season tickets, the program is in worse condition than I thought. (Child rearing is not an excuse.) Also, the ticket office is going to great lengths. They're running ads about buying tickets for Hoyas home games nationally during every FS1 Hoyas broadcast. It is a little weird being directed in Chicago to call for tickets to the next game, but such is the state of the new Big East. Only 3,687 posts! You're right of course.

I hope when we lose this game all you bring up our NCAA voodoo feel as ashamed as you should. Players and coaches need to focus on one game at a time. Message boards wouldn't exist if those were the rules for we deranged fans. In any event, no one was talking about this team making this tournament. We were having a discussion about keeping the team humming into the month of March, which led to a disagreement about whether there was historical evidence that the month of March itself was a problem for the Hoyas, which led into a complete tangent about past tournament issues. No one is jumping ahead of Xavier. I was not being serious. And I was referring to the beattlejuice effect of bringing up our March curse in this thread will curse us for this game as well. Not referring to looking a head to the tournament.

Another thought on the tickets front: maybe we can expect ticket interest to pick up over time as people become more accustomed to some of these rivalries and we get a feel for the new conference. It definitely helps that the league had such a great non-con performance, but I'll admit that for the first time, with some momentum behind us, I am starting to come around to the new world order. What I mean is, it has been difficult to get pumped up about games against the Xaviers and Butlers and even Providences of the world, because in my head these are just perenially inferior programs that we should never lose to under any circumstances and the intensity of the old Big East just isn't matched.
But as teams are playing well and we see so many in the RPI top 50 and as the Hoyas are playing well, that has changed for me over the past few games. I am no longer doing an automatic mental comparison between hosting Xavier and hosting, say, Notre Dame, and finding the former to be inferior. Instead, I'm looking at the league we have.
It has also been kinda fun to pay attention to what all 10 teams are doing. Usually if there is a Big East game going on, I am keeping one eye on the score these days. That hasn't been true in the new conference until now.
Maybe over time this can become really, really fun. (It would be nice if Fox Sports started upping their studio and game productions, of course.)

This is our 4th game against Xavier in 2 years which makes a big difference, imo, compared to taking 4 years to play this many teams. All the close games this season also helps to develop rivalries.

I wonder if there others that fall into that category?

Are we willing to say that we can use the question of whether or not Bradley Hayes appears in the game in the first 30 minutes as a proxy for how we're doing overall in the game?

I wonder if there others that fall into that category? Well to be fair, I've only been back in DC for a year. Spent the last 10+ in New York and Michigan. This season was first season I seriously contemplated getting season tickets, but I opted not to for a variety of reasons. I imagine season tickets will be in my future, but as of now I don't have them. Now, back to your regularly scheduled Xavier discussion.
