Zion Williamson: Fans are always interested in recruiting. What are some of the schools you're currently hearing from? Schools I hear from every two to three days are Clemson, South Carolina, Duke, North Carolina, UCLA, Kansas, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Florida, and Arizo I visited Georgetown and I love their history with networking cause every basketball player they have always goes onto do something big outside of basketball and I just love that about them. Did you see a game there? No, sir. I just saw them on an unofficial, but I did see a couple of their small forwards work out. Yaboy, was he specifically asked about Georgetown there or did he say that unsolicited? They asked him about what schools he visited in the fall and he mentioned Georgetown...

SCRATCHING THE SURFACE Moses Brown Last week, Moses Brown rose all the way to No. 6 in the class of 2018 and it appears as if he's going to back it up. He was severely limited by foul trouble in his game but at 7-feet with soft touch and good athleticism, his ceiling is ridiculous. Arizona, Connecticut, Kansas, Louisville, St. John's and many others are chasing. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/the-bossi-awards-hoophall-classicWho is involved: Maryland, Miami, Cal, Kansas, St. John’s, Arizona, Louisville, Kentucky, Duke and others Quote: “Probably late in my senior year I will make my decision. I will probably narrow things down late summertime. I want a place that I can develop and can become a pro.” Prediction: Thanks to the dearth of premier big men in the 2018 class and the elite upside and improvements out of Brown, the recruitment of the 7-footer is far from complete. When push comes to shove, we will place our bets on Maryland in landing the five-star junior. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/five-star-naz-reid-stands-out-at-talent-laden-showcaseDuke, Kentucky, Louisville, UConn, Maryland, Kansas, Florida, Miami, Cal, Seton Hall, Arizona are among the teams recruiting Brown, he said. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/big-man-brown-is-high-on-priority-list-for-big-time-programs

Shareef O'neal In terms of other visits, do you have any upcoming? No visits that are planned yet. I'm going to try to get out to Georgetown. I'm still going to probably go to LSU with my dad and do that visit, so those are probably the next two. And what do you like about Georgetown? Georgetown, they just recently offered me like last year and I'm also going to go there because my dad, he always told me that Georgetown was his dream school. __________ Some of the schools in the mix are UCLA, Arizona, USC, Kansas and LSU. Arizona: "I've been to Arizona for an unofficial visit and the campus was great, the coaches treated us like family. I know they let their bigs shoot and play the perimeter and that's the kind of thing I like. My teammate Ira Lee is obviously going there, so he's been talking to me about the program." UCLA: "They're close to home and I've been to a few of their games and really like their style of play. I watch TJ Leaf closely, who's my height and has an outside jumper as well, so I think I could be a good fit there. The coaching staff is great and have been out to see me a lot this season." USC - "Like UCLA, they're close to home and I've been to a couple of their games. I know a couple of their players too like Bennie Boatwright and he's another big that can play the perimeter, so that's interesting to me." Kansas - "Kansas came out to a practice earlier this season and have just been building a relationship with me and trying to get me to come out for a visit. They're a top team in the Big 12 and I like what they're about." LSU - "Obviously my dad went there, so yeah they're still in the mix of things. They definitely want me to get down there for a visit and it's something I want to do with my dad, so we're just trying to work out a time that works." basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/shareef-o-neal-plans-to-cut-list-this-summer

Updated Scout Top 100: Hoyas Targets
2 Zion Williamson 6 Moses Brown 27 Prentiss Hubb 31 Brandon Slater 36 Shareef O'Neal 38 Keldon Johnson 50 Sid Wilson 51 David McCormack 72 Bryce Hamilton 87 Kiyon Boyd
Going to be hard for the staff to recruit effectively if JT3 is retained following this season, given that most kids aren't going to want to commit to a coach on the hot seat...is a shame since the Hoyas at one point were pretty well-positioned with a solid amount of strong players in the class, particularly Johnson, McCormack and Boyd.

Probably too late to make up ground for the local top '18 kids but the 2nd tier kids could be in play. 2019 is where the new staff has to really deliver.

Yeah, this is where hiring a coach who can recruit and has already made connections is really key. That way, we wouldn't be starting from scratch.

According to a source close to the program, Georgetown will be hosting 2018 PG Curtis Aiken Jr. (N. Allegheny HS/Pittsburgh), 2019 SG Sherif Kenney (Rock Creek Christian Academy/Upper Marlboro), 2019 PF Jason Murphy (Chapelgate Christian Academy/Marriottsville, Md.) and 2018 PF Jermaine Harris (Rock Creek Christian Academy/Upper Marlboro) at the Phone Booth for Saturday's game A tough kid who always competes and plays hard, Jermaine Harris had a good showing at the Metro Challenge. He is a good athlete who can score down low and has long arms along with being a solid rebounder. Harris doesn’t have the best feel for the game, but he does give it everything he has, and should be someone who makes an impact early in college with his rebounding, toughness, and high motor style. Class of 2018 Baltimore Supreme (MD) forward Nate Roberts has had top notch performances throughout FAA camp. He has taken away a great deal from it all. “It’s been a very fun experience because of how I can just play the game of basketball and do the things I love,” said Roberts. “From a competing standpoint I just want to play against the best players around and from a social standpoint I get the chance to meet people I’ve never met before. Other than that it’s been great to get some exposure here.” He understands what he brings to every team he plays for and what he needs to improve on. “My coaches think I play the three and four well, but I would describe my game as someone that is versatile and plays inside and outside,” he said. “I can take bigger guys from the perimeter and smaller guys down low. I just need to improve my ball handling and get stronger.” His recruitment hasn’t been as active as some would expect, but he is starting to gain some big interest. “I hold two offers so far and those are from Delaware and James Madison,” said the 2018 forward. “I picked up interest from Cincinnati today and I also have received interest from Miami, NC State, Virginia, Providence and a couple more schools.” hoopgroup.com/elite-blog/elite-camp-updates/nate-roberts-is-ready-to-breakout/In December, Nate Roberts was playing for Baltimore (Md.) John Carroll. By mid-January, Roberts, a three-star versatile prospect, opted to make a move to Wolfeboro (N.H.) Brewster Academy to play for Jason Smith. “I just [had] a deep talk with my family over winter break and it seemed like a better opportunity, better competition, better academic wise, so it was just a better opportunity overall,” Roberts told Scout. Robert, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward, hopes the move helps his development. In the Hoophall Classic, although he didn’t get a ton of minutes because he's still getting acclimated with a new team, but Roberts still showed his potential. “I consider myself a high motor guy, someone who runs the floor well, rebounds, blocks shots, get buckets around the basket, stretch it out if I can, dribble if I can, just keep my game well-rounded and not staying one-dimensional.” What’s the next step in his development? “Definitely getting stronger and ball handling and shooting,” he said. Roberts says his recruitment is going “good,” but that it’s been somewhat quiet since the summer. With that said, high major schools have been keeping tabs on him. Among the schools he listed were Syracuse, UConn, Indiana, Purdue, West Virginia, Maryland and Xavier. “Everybody’s pretty much even,” he said. “Nobody’s really sticking out right now.” www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1748687-nate-roberts-talks-transfer-recruitingThe potential is definitely there for Nate Roberts. He is someone who can score on the block, has long arms and good athleticism to rebound, and also runs the floor very well. Despite that he isn’t super productive. Roberts has to be tougher down low, but he shows all the ability to make major moves once he gains strength. Darrell Owens was on Patrick Waring's show, mentioned he's coaching at Madison Prep Academy. Prep's probably the top team in the area. Brandon (LSU) Josh Anderson(WKU. Currently Josh Anderson, and Josh Leblanc. Ot a bit but Anderson (#57 composite)was recruited by Shammond Williams.
Recruiting mostly controlled by travel teams but a good resource when it come to identifying talent early. Think he said previous staff was recruiting Leblanc but not 100%..

I know he was a pretty darn good player, but I’ve got no relationship with him,” said Ryan Eskow, the basketball coach at Georgetown Prep in North Bethesda (the school has no affiliation with the university). “But I’ve heard only good things about him, and only time will tell how he does. And if I’ve got players who he’s interested in, I’m sure we’ll have a relationship.” ______________ That trend has had a marked effect on local basketball, high school coaches say. A decent proportion of players grew up rooting for the Hoyas, only to have Georgetown pursue talent outside the Washington area. “The crazy thing is [local] kids want to go to Maryland and Georgetown, but they feel slighted that Villanova and Arizona are talking to them and you’re not,” Rock Creek Christian Coach Christian Cole said. Rock Creek power forward Jermaine Harris, an emerging target for the Hoyas’ former coaching staff who has received interest from multiple Big 12 programs, visited Georgetown’s campus in February, and Hoyas coaches visited Rock Creek’s campus in Upper Marlboro later in the season. Harris said he felt “at home” on the Hilltop. _________ Patrick Ewing Jr., the coach’s son and Hoyas director of basketball operations, has been reaching out to Georgetown commits to arrange face-to-face meetings between players and the new coaching staff, H.D. Woodson Coach Trey Mines said. Former Woodson star and Georgetown signee Antwan Walker, who is enrolled at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., for a postgraduate year of baske __________ “People need to know who Patrick Ewing really is,” O’Connell Coach Joe Wootten said. “We all remember Patrick Ewing the Hall of Fame player, but we need to see Patrick Ewing the coach and the head of the Georgetown basketball program.”

It's a good sign local coaches are speaking up about what the new staff needs to do. Listen to them, they are a lifeline. Also seemed like JT3 and staff had made some intial in roads with the 18's. Hopefully PE can pick up where they left off.

Five-star class of 2018 prospect Immanuel Quickley came in with a big reputation and he did nothing to make people think he is anything less than a high level prospect. When seeing Quickley last year the thought was he was a high level scorer who would do most of his damage off the ball, but now it is clear that was incorrect. Quickley instead is a point guard who can definitely score, but is at his best making plays. His feel for the game is off the charts, and he just knows how to make others better. Quickley was tracked closely by Xavier, Cincinnati, and Georgetown at the event. Also schools such as USC, Maryland, and Kansas were seen at his games. www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1662371-first-evaluation-period-top-performersVisiting Louisville this weekend. Corey Evans @coreyevans_10 Kansas & Maryland are expected in today for five-star 2018 Team BBC guard Immanuel Quickley, per his coach
