Slotted at No. 123 overall in the class of 2017, 6-foot-6 small forward Justin Smith from Lincolnshire (Ill.) Stevenson got off to a nice start for the Mac Irvin Fire. A bouncy athlete, Smith went high to finish alley-oops, looked confident with his jumper (even with mixed results) and looked to have improved his ball handling. In the past he had looked like more of a combo forward, but he looks to be a full-time wing. Smith listed offers from Illinois, Indiana, Northwestern, Rice, Purdue, DePaul, Wake Forest and Wisconsin. It looks like four-star guard Nojel Eastern is completely recovered from injury. After a nasty ankle injury in the spring of 2015, the No. 55 ranked player in 2017 looks to be back in form. Eastern is every bit of 6-foot-5 (if not a little bigger) and has strength to match. It will be interesting to see what the spring has in store for him. basketballrecruiting.n.rivals.com/news/swish-n-dish-johnson-has-the-juice

Justin Smith has been a potential breakout performer at Swish N Dish BRIAN SNOW Yesterday at 11:41 PM MEQUON, Wisc - Wing Justin Smith has always had a ton of talent, but the Chicago native looks to be taking his game to a new level at the NY2LA Swish N Dish. One player who looks like he has made a huge step forward in the last nine months is Justin Smith. At the NY2LA Swish N Dish so far Smith has been a force running with the Mac Irvin Fire. The highly athletic Smith has really improved, and now the sky looks to be the limit. Always Smith has been known as someone with an excellent combination of size and athleticism on the wing. Playing at Stevenson High School in suburban Chicago, Smith was an understudy to Jalen Brunson his first two years, but now he is the undisputed leader of his high school team, and he looks to have made great strides and is more comfortable in that role. At around 6-foot-6, Smith is handling the ball well and at times is seemingly even playing the point guard position. Also his shot making has improved, and that has always been the biggest question mark for Smith. With his improvement expect even more schools to get involved, but Smith lists offers from schools such as Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, DePaul, Wake Forest, and Wisconsin have already offered. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he keeps this play up those schools turned up the heat even more, and if other schools joined in the fray hunting for his commitment. Smith is a good student, and at the Swish N Dish has been someone who has put himself in a position to be a breakout performer this spring. www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1657506-ny2la-smith-having-a-huge-start-to-spring

Wow he's grown 3/4 inches since his unofficial visit last spring. Didn't realize he moved to Texas as I kinda lost track of him. Sounds like he's developing nicely. According to Newton, the staff is still involved.

Sylvain 'Frenchi' Francisco Florida guard tracking at a MM to MM+ level... Like what I've seen but tbh I know very little about his game, just mainly talking recruiting philosophy. Think it's important to identify some back up options at guard "early" in case our top targets go elsewhere. Using this kid as an example of the type of kid imo they should be sending feelers 2 as he looks like he has the speed and athleticism to compete at this level... With more polish looks like he could be a contributor at a HM for sure. Wasn't Frenchi Francisco one of the Pink Ladies in Grease?

More on Justin Smith... "Smith doesn’t look to be in any hurry to cut his list or set up any visits. He says that he’s wide open and he is pretty genuine about it. His recruitment is one that doesn’t seem to be heading toward a conclusion anytime soon, and the month of April will tell us a lot about who is prioritizing him when we see which programs lock in to watch him play in Nike’s EYBL with the Mac Irvin Fire." basketballrecruiting.n.rivals.com/news/smith-s-game-continues-to-expand

If this young man owns a jacket that looks anything like the one worn by Frenchy in that skit, the staff should push as hard as possible to sign him immediately!!!

Paul White's AAU program, where Coach Hardy has a lot of well-developed relationships: Loaded Meanstreets 17U team There is certainly a collection of bonafide high-level talent on the Meanstreets 17U team, starting with a vaunted perimeter attack featuring Evanston’s Nojel Eastern, Simeon’s Evan Gilyard and vagabond Alonzo Verge, the talented former Willowbrook star who is back in Illinois after a short stint at a Florida prep school. Meanstreets, who also has Young’s Lucas Williamson and Kenwood’s Manny Patterson, will be gaining the services of a star this spring –– Brian Bowen. The versatile 6-6 wing, who played this past year at La Lumiere in Indiana, is among the top 25 prospects in the country. suntimeshighschoolsports.com/2016/04/08/henricksen-swish-n-dish-tips-club-scene-thoughts-takeaways-event/

The transferring has hurt his stock but supposedly he's a beast. All 3 kids can make an argument for best PG in Chicago for 2017. Da'Monte Williams (Ill signee) is really good but more of a 2. The Gilyard kid can really play and is a realistic option for the Hoyas at this point don't think the other guys are but never know. Hope they take a serious look at Gilyard now in case they miss on other targets.. Another Chicago kid they would be smart to get on Right Now would be Demarius Jacobs.. CG, Offers are weak but upside upside upside.. He will be playing at a HM next year once coaches see him. Video is from Last summer, just a ridiculous athlete with a condors wingspan. Supposedly skills have really improved. Him and Giyard are the only junior on 1st or 2nd team all city in Chicago.. Definitely a kid to keep tabs on and he doesn't look to be in a rush so definitely should monitor... TBH A lot ok kids on his AAU team (YnR) are under-recruited. Definitely some hidden gems on that squad

Natural lefty that shoots righty? Reminds me of my father's stories about having gone to Catholic school back in the day.
