Well that was pretty quietly pursued.

Well that was pretty quietly pursued. Would he have to sit out a year?

Well that was pretty quietly pursued. Would he have to sit out a year? Don't see any reason why not. This would be a straight transfer, not a transfer post-graduation (as was the case, otherwise, with Rodney Pryor). He'd still have three years of remaining eligibility.

Well that was pretty quietly pursued. This is why I don't fully understand fan frustration sometimes when it comes to recruiting. Yes, some recruiting is very public (guys like Noel, Waters, most top 20 types), but a lot of it is not. And if history is any judge, the type of guys we usually land aren't the ones who typically get press coverage for months leading up to their decision. Of course, that could change under Ewing, but it's way too early to tell.

It has to be said that it's the players(folks around them too) who control the narrative/press around the recruiting process, schools aren't allowed to comment on unsigned players.. It's not the program being stealthy about who they're going after imo..

He'd still have three years of remaining eligibility. I thought I had heard that he red-shirted last year at Pitt and wasn't sure if that effected his eligibility for next year. Sounds like it does not. He sounds like he would be a really good addition to the program, so I hope it works out.

He got no playing time for a bad Pitt team. Does the staff really think he's worth a scholarship in a sit out year? I guess they do. I would rather use it on a '18 or '19 kid.

I get what you're saying 95 but Pitt was a mess last season & I think Manigault was a Dixon recruit.. Bring him in and coach him up, he has all the physical tools to be productive.. Plus the team has plenty of spots available over the next few seasons..

there's also the question of roster balance. Right now, in 18-19, we'd have Govan (assuming he doesn't go to the draft), Sodom (a project, will he be ready?), and Derrickson for bigs. I count Walker as more of a SF--even if I'm wrong about Walker and he somehow becomes a PF, that's pretty thin. We need bodies and Manigault had potential before a coaching and style change at a dysfunctional Pitt.
Having another older player ready to go in 2018 and 2019 would be a benefit to the team, even if he's never more than a depth piece.

Give him a year to practice and get bigger and he'll see time in next year's lineup - a lot if Jessie or Marcus leave early. I could live with a late G (Stewart?) signing and transfer to fill in our (current) 2 roster spots.
