Irrespective of what any of us thought about Stuart Scott as a sportscaster, you cannot help but be touched emotionally by how courageously he fought cancer, that insidious disease that leaves no family untouched. From all accounts he was a loving parent and a much-admired and respected co-worker. There are worse epitaphs than those accolades. Forty-nine years is too short a lifetime for anyone.
Requiescat in pace, Mr. Scott.

To quote Deadspin's Timothy Burke: "Probably worth trying to live a life that makes people around you love you as much as Rich Eisen loved Stuart Scott."
The on-air reactions of Eisen and Hannah Storm serve as deeply poignant testaments to that.

Godspeed Stuart and may God bless and keep the daughters you loved so much in this trying time.
Your courage and grace in the face of an opponent which does not ever fight fair were an inspiration.
