Also people on this board are severely underestimating Derrickson. He is probably the most ready to play of the recruits at this level skill wise. He has played in big games against big time competition. He will probably be like Paul White this year in that Coach will rely on him as a key cog early on because of his skill and experience level.

Dense, agree completely. He's solid and can put it through the hoop in many different ways. Govan will play more and sooner just because of lack of Cs.

Nobodies underestimating Marcus but I personally have major doubts he can contribute as a freshman at his current weight. Especially on D.

I think his offensive skill level rivals any power forward in the conference right now. However, conditioning and defense might be a problem. I think his conditioning will be even more of an issue at the 4 than Josh's is at the 5. A lot of college teams these days seem to be going smaller/quicker at the 4 instead of the traditional bruiser that just rebounds/defends. Off the top of my head, Indiana starts Troy Williams at the 4, Duke starts Jefferson at the 4, etc. That being said, if Derrickson really commits himself to a strength and conditioning program, drops 10-20 lbs, adds muscle, he'll be a matchup nightmare for opponents.

I mean Kennedy Meeks was much fatter and slimmed down before he played a game for UNC. So I think there's a good chance Marcus will lose 15 lbs or more before next year.

Derrickson can really shoot the ball and has excellent touch around the hoop.
His apparent lack of athleticism and weight contributed to his dropping in the rankings. Also, he's on a loaded Brewster team, so his senior year stats may be a little understated relative to his talent.
If he slims down a bit, I can see him getting minutes off the bench as a freshman in the Reggie Cameron role that never came to fruition.

Marcus is a good team defender. I don't see this situation that you guys see. Teams that go with a 6-6 jumping jack like Troy Williams at the 4 are always gonna cause problems because of how we recruit. Our advantage is that we have size that has skill. Marcus fits that bill. I also think alot of people on this board think he is Josh Smith fat the way they talk about his weight. He is a bunch of baby fat like Draymond Green was at Michigan St. I use him constantly as the comparison because they both are that smart of a player. If they are on your team they just seem to win. I see him getting a chance at 15-20 minutes a game if Akoy is not eligible till 2nd semester.

We definitely need a PG that can score as well as distrbute. Height is overrated.

But if we got Bracey then we wouldn't have gotten (and then lost) Waters! *runs away*

I am not sure how much Dickerson will contribute this year. In the games he has played he has sometimes seemed a little hesitant, which has made him less effective. When he makes aggressive plays at top speed he looks like he could be a helpful piece on this team, but he needs to be much more consistent. I would think that lack of consistency is what is limiting his playing time right now. It is a new team/new coach/new system/higher level of competition, so he might just be getting acclimated at this point but I was hoping for more from him this season.

So there is no next year
