I wish I was Freshman in the BE averaging a shade under 9 ppg and people though I was struggling. I mean what would my averages look as a rookie if I wasn’t struggling? I wish I had that kind of talent. Just to clarify, YaBoy, but I don't think Peak is having a bad season. He is having a very impressive freshman campaign. Just remarking on his future ceiling, which I judge to be lower than the other 3 freshman of note. All 4 have the potential to be All-Big East caliber players.

How time flies! Didn't realize that LJ was a senior already. In the email offering tickets for the Seton Hall game on senior day there is a picture of Josh, Mikael, Jabril, and LJ. Does this mean we have Aaron for a few more years?

Which is more odd? Honor a senior that is coming back for another year or honor a 5th year guy a second time?

Just want to give a shout out to LJ. Really stepped up and exploded in a big game offensively and defensively and kept us in the game. If he can consistently add that college 3pt range he will be a monster next year.

LJ needs to hang with DSR all summer. He has the natural ability to be amazing but needs to put in the work. DSR puts in work.

His driving and especially his ability to finish at the rim is bordering on elite level. Give him a jumpshot and you won't be able to guard him. Has to be simultaneously more aggressive while staying under control. Has to help shoulder the load on offense and rebound more. Work on FTs.

If he wants a shot at the NBA, it will have to be as a guard so he needs to work on guard skills - ball handling, jump shooting, and passing off the dribble.

3 assists in the final 9 games of the season. Those are some Yinka Dare numbers.
I like his potential as much as the next guy, but if he doesn't make a major leap next year we're cooked.

I agree that both that Peak needs to put in the work and that he has a ton of ability.
I also want to see him finish at the rim with DUNKS- or at least try to do so. No more soft layups missed from two feet away. He will draw a bunch of fouls in the process.
I am proud of III for sticking with him, and I think III sees what he can become. Boy did he look good on Saturday. I love his confidence.

I'm not sure how you define "bordering on elite level," but if you take out games 1 and 33, Peak struggled a ton to finish anything at the rim this year. He appears to have potential in this area, but to my eye LJ is nowhere near an elite finisher and needs to put in some serious work in the off-season to become better in this facet of his game, just to bring it up to acceptable by starting BE SG/SF standards.

LJ was certainly at an acceptable level for a freshman. He needs what virtually every freshman needs - strength and control, which often go hand in hand. I expect all of the frosh to do the weight work and be stronger at the rim and on the boards. I feel that they can all make big leaps by next year, especially with consistency, which will position us extremely nicely both in the conference and nationally.

Sorry, but LJ struggled to finish at the rim, even by freshman standards for the amount of minutes he received in a starting capacity. Green, Sapp, Summers, Freeman, Clark, Otto, DSR all came in much better finishers than LJ.
He has a lot of work to do. I believe his athleticism is slightly overrated. At this level, he cannot just jump in the air and hope to make something happen. He needs a ton more discipline and control. He needs to hone a variety of moves, because he's not jumping over people in college.

LJ takes roughly half of his shots at the rim, so he can obviously get there -- 50% is high for a guard, even though much of that is reluctance to shoot jumpers. He only shoots 52% on these shots. I say only because if you look at few comparable players, even on the Hoyas, that's a low finishing rate. DSR doesn't take a lot of shots at the rim, but he's at 67%. Trawick is at 62% at about the same % of shots. Aaron Bowen might be the best comp. He shoots 61% of his shots at the rim, much like LJ, but he also finishes at a 67% rate. LJ isn't awful -- but he's not an elite finisher yet. He also isn't doing the other key part of driving, which is getting to the line. I think he can get there, but he's not up there yet.

If LJ progresses normally, I believe that shots that didn't fall this year will fall next year. Agree with Ranch and SF that he is not an elite finisher yet, but he is elite at getting to the goal. In high school, most of that stuff fell. If he's as good as we think he is, it'll start to fall in college too. He'll figure it out.

He will make the necessary adjustments to become elite on the collegiate level. The first step is developing that midrange game.
