Peak has been terrific. I really like the potential he's been showing on defense in addition to the buckets. Gotta get better on the rebounds though. He's too talented to be averaging 1.9/game.

Congrats LJ! Is it just me or does he seem to take a lot of left handed shots? Like little runners. Always seems like they're with his left

insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncbrecruiting/on-the-trail/post?id=12586L.J. Peak, Georgetown ESPN 100 rank: 31 No Georgetown freshman has averaged double figures points since Otto Porter in 2011-12. Peak is currently averaging 9.9 points per game, and he brings it on the defensive end as well. He is a do-it-all player who contributes by scoring in a variety of ways, including the occasional 3-point shot. His defense is solid both on and away from the ball as he possesses toughness, athletic ability and excellent positional length. What separates him as an offensive player is that he functions and produces in schemes as well as in the conversion game. Peak needs to rebound more based on his minutes played and frame, but he brings an advanced understanding to the court along with a competitive nature to win.

LJ's very composed for a freshman, but he's gotta start shooting the ball better. He's under 35% from the field since the opener.
If he can find a solid stroke from the perimeter, his game will go through the roof.
With this squad having so many up & down offensive players after DSR and Josh, we could really use a more consistent 10-12 point 3rd scorer. Before the year started I thought that would be Jabril - but if LJ can step up, even better.

As a result he forces some drives and ends up with wild shots or charges. He needs to find his shot and play a little more under control, and he can get to 8-10 a game.

As a result he forces some drives and ends up with wild shots or charges. He needs to find his shot and play a little more under control, and he can get to 8-10 a game. To make matters worse, when the Hoyas have Peak, Trawick, Smith and Hopkins in the game there is only one perimeter shooter on the floor as both Trawick and Peak pass up open shots. Same is true for Bowen when he is in the game. Consider that Peak's 3 pt. percentage is 28.6% and more alarmingly his overall shooting is 41.1%. The latter number is noteworthy because so many of his shots are at the rim. Moreover, Peak has the second most 3 pt. attempts on the team and more than Trawick and Bowen combined. Only Hopkins among the regulars is shooting worse than Peak, though DSR is very close, albeit from much farther out usually. I truly value his hustle and aggressive scorer's mentality, but he is probably not going to develop into a better shooter during this season. It will take work in the summer. For now, I am happy to see him work on his ballhandling which can help take some of the pressure off of DSR. Prefer Peak to Jabril as the point. Also, though he is very quick, he still needs to develop defensively. Like most freshmen he is still learning to anticipate and recognize screens and picks and is often a step slow. Still this kid is an impact player who must see the floor often if this team is going to win.

Like a great deal of what LJ brings to the table, but his outside shot is not one of them. I know that form is not everything, but he seems to shoot almost a knuckeball on the three pointers. Not sure I can think of another good shooter who does that. Agree that he needs to really work on that stroke. The good thing is , learning to shoot isn't that hard...the aggression, physicality on both ends of the court and hops that he has, cannot be learned.

His shooting % would move up significantly if he simply converted on some of the easy basket off of his drives. His ability to get to the basket (and make the defender look silly) is awesome, but he has been unable to follow through with a bucket on numerous occasions. Can't help but think that that will change. Hoping, anyway...

I'd just like him to shoot more in general. He's a bit of a volume shooter but I think it's probably particularly hard for him to get going on 4-5 shots total.

Actually he and Smith are tied for second most shots on the team. I think that what has tailed off are his attempts from the outside. Yet at 8/28 from 3 pt. range, it might be better for him to try more of the DSR style dribble penetration and pull up. When he takes it all the way to the basket he is often in the trees and for whatever reason is not getting the calls or finishing.

Wow, great recruiting promo. By that I mean what he said was not scripted . The kid is talking from the heart about being at Geogetown is like being with family. Have to admit I had a different take on his personality based( mistakenly) on his initial game at Georgetown. I had thought the kid was a more of a ball hawk who wanted to score and show his abilities . Had him staying no longer than two years at he most. After listening to that video I have a totaling different take. The young man is definitely team first and now I understand why he has not duplicated his first game heroics. Listen LJ you can still be a team first guy while at the same time taking the ball to the hoop when you see that opening in the defense.. If you can get to the hoop in two dribbles or less, take it. That is the best shot in this offense. The original PRINCETON offense was designed to get less athletic players layups at the basket without dribbling. You can get there with your quick first step, dribble and lift, so take it. Just be sure u see it , like your fist game rather than imagined it. When you do this you will open up other scoring opportunities for our teammates like good team player should.

Really enjoyed this video-- made me laugh a few times. Kid has a great personality and seems to have his head on straight. Hoping for big things for him during his time at Gtown....

Talk about a different demeanor off of the court. Seems like a great guy. He's definitely got his priorities straight and I always like to hear the young guys talk about plans and hopes for their future that don't include basketball. Not that I don't wish him success as a player. Only that, while his focus is ball, he has other things in mind for himself as well. He sounds much more together than I was at that age. Keep working LJ!
