Gotta believe that Rafus is currently our top realistic uncommitted prospect in the 17 class along with BIG MAN Samuel Japhet-Mathias out of Vermont. I know most people will say DJ Harvey but his top school changes weekly and it's never been the Hoyas. Harvey has been linked to Arizona, Louisville, and most recently Duke as his top choice. Also I think Rafus has more upside then Harvey.
Rafus list while long, is not that daunting yet. He has shown that he is interested in Georgetown by coming on a few unofficial visits during last season and spring and his best friend is Georgetown commit Tyler Foster, who IMO has a chance to be really good. The only school that Rafus mentions is UNLV because they were his first D1 offer. UNLV has a relationship with St. Francis, Rafus's former high school and has signed 2 current rebels, Dwayne Morgan and Daquan Cook. It' might actually be a good thing he transferred out of St. Francis in terms of Georgetown's interest. It would have been better for us if he went to Brewsters Academy (Copeland & Derrickson's alma mater) instead of Roselle Catholic in New Jersey.

The Brewster angle may be a little bit overblown on the board both of those kids were committed before they enrolled at Brewster. Also AAU teams are usually the ones delivering kids to these Prep schools so they can maintain their influence not to loosen it. The relationship from what I understand isn't with St Francis it's with Baltimore's Finest/Team Melo regarding UNLV. That's why him moving to Jersey won't have an effect on the UNLV angle. Daquan Cook is Dwayne Wise (Team Melo), and Marc Karcher (Baltimore Finest's) Cousin..

Man Marc Karcher. I loved his game. One of those underrated college stars at Temple.

KENTUCKY CALLS ANDRE RAFUS
Kentucky assistant Kenny Payne checked in with 6-9 2017 Roselle (N.J.) Catholic forward Andre Rafus, he told SNY.tv.
“Kentucky is beginning to show interest and will come to watch me play next month,” Rafus said. “They love 6-9 guys who can shoot it.”
Rafus transferred from Baltimore to RC, the same school that produced incoming Kentucky point guard Isaiah Briscoe.

We will be in the final 5 I have to think. Tyler is his best friend and he visited here a bunch. I think our roster make up will have alot to do if we have a chance more than who is involved.

Are we still in the mix for Rafus? I know he was at St. John's for their MM. Haven't heard us mentioned in connection as much since his move to Roselle Catholic.

Yes of course, staff is recruiting multiple players on that Roselle Catholic squad (Naz Reid 18, Nate Pierre Louis 17) and have been to open gyms since the move...

From ZagsBlog...
- Andre Rafus and a couple of his Roselle (N.J.) Catholic teammates had a busy day for themselves on Sunday.
First, they had an 8 a.m. practice at RC, which was attended by Rutgers head coach Eddie Jordan and assistant Dalip Bhatia.
By shortly after noon, the 6-foot-9 Rafus, along with 6-4 point guard Nate Pierre-Louis and 6-9 forward Naz Reid, were making their way to their front-row seats at Madison Square Garden for the Syracuse-St. John's game, won by the Red Storm, 84-72.
First off, what's up with that 8 o'clock practice on a Sunday?
"[Coach Dave Boff] was basically getting us ready for college," Rafus, a member of the Class of 2017, told SNY.tv. "Coach Boff is very serious on getting us ready for college, being able to be ready and making sure we are ready for that opportunity when we get it."
Rafus transferred to Roselle Catholic from Baltimore St. Frances in July and said he now holds scholarship offers from USC, UCLA, Cal, Arizona State, Memphis, SMU, UMass, Kansas State, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's, UConn, Tennessee, Missouri, Dayton, Georgetown, ECU, VCU and West Virginia.
"I'm just trying to pick out what school fits my style of play and [is] just going to get me better, that's all I'm really worried about it," he said.
Asked if any schools were working particularly hard, Rafus said: "It's all of them are calling me, all of them are texting me on a daily basis. All of them showing love so I'm just waiting on which one I'm going to end up going to."
Rutgers reaches out to Rafus every day, he said, and he's been there on several occasions.
"Most definitely," he said. "I've been to a few games."
Rafus is also very interested in St. John's. He visited for Midnight Madness and was back again at the Garden on Sunday.
"I like St. John's because St. John's, they [are] saying if I was to commit now that [with] my style of play I would come right in and play," Rafus said. "That's what every freshman wants. They saying if I came as a freshman, I would come right away and play, and that's the goal, come in right away doing what I gotta do so I can get ready."
Rafus said he's also interested in Syracuse, but doesn't yet hold an offer.
"I like Syracuse because it's a school that's known for big forwards, big guards," he said. "I'm a big small forward. They're on the edge of offering but St. John's offered me a scholarship."
In the meantime, Rafus said he and his teammates are trying to build toward winning Roselle Catholic's second straight New Jersey Tournament of Champions title and third in four years.
"I'm focusing on winning a TOC championship, that's mainly it," he said. "We looking real good. We got a helluva point guard [in] Nate Pierre-Louis. We got an excellent 3/4 from Nazi. We can throw a little bit of everything on the floor so we're a very versatile team."

Well that does not sound particularly promising.

Well that does not sound particularly promising. Yeah from everything I've been reading, he seems like he is very high on the Cuse and eagerly waiting for an offer. He plays with Carmelo Anthony's team during spring/summer and has already visited the Canadian campus a few times and mentions Syracuse in all media interviews even though they have not offered, but rarely mentions Georgetown and we offered over a year ago.

Sounds like he gave a general answer and Adam asked him specifically about the NJ and Ny teams.....
Also regarding his offer, not too sure how solid it is
