Did he really "quit on his team?" Do we know anywhere close to the whole story? Lots of weird stuff happens with HS basketball- frequently not driven by the players, of course.
He is good enough that numerous high majors have offered, and even Kansas has some interest...sounds like a take to me.

He left his team in the middle of the season. I mean if that's not quitting then what is it? It's not like a college transfer, you don't preserve eligibility.
He's a talented kid with questions. He's at his 3rd school in 3 years.

I don't know the story, but imo there's a big difference between quiting on your team as in taking your ball in going home and leaving to go to another school for legitimate reasons: such as a better education, a more competitive conference, or because family moved.

He left because of turmoil within the team and staff. You gotta finish the season at least. I'm not saying we shouldn't recruit him. I just won't be upset if he chooses elsewhere, and I'm pretty desperate for a commitment.

He quit on his high school team in the middle of their season. On the court, he often times is not interested in rebounding or playing defense. Doesn't bring great intangibles. Thinks he's a lot better than he is. But he can absolutely stroke the 3. Is it safe to classify him as a pure shooter? From the handful of games I've watched of him that's about all he offered. Cause if so I'm hesitant about him given our recent lack of success with "pure shooters." He seems like a taller Reggir Cameron. No he has the talent to be a great all around player just rather stand out in the wing and wait for the ball. Every. once in awhile he dominates a game and shows his tremendous shot making ability off the catch and bounce. he is 100 times more athletic than Cameron.

Recently (a week or two ago), Rafus was a 4 star rated in the 60s on Rivals...now he is a 3 star rated 138...FYI

That type of a ranking drop means a GU commit is imminent

I had the same thought. Did he have a bad summer? Still sounds like a talent and I would sign him up if possible.

Also, glad Broadus is on this one...I trust his instincts a lot...legitimate recruiter.

A few points that bother me about Rafus..
1. I don't like all the transfers, this will be his 3rd transfer in about a year and a half..
2. He doesn't seem to improve his game, he looks to be the same player he was when we 1st started hearing about him..
3. This is most important in my opinion..
I don't get the impression he wants to be a Hoya, looks to me like Gtown is a safety school to him..
That thought combined with his penchant for transferring gives me pause..

Interesting points- why does it seem to you that Hoyas are the "safety" option?

True but he's only got one of those left in his final 4, and there is no way that Kansas would accept a commitment from him.

True but he's only got one of those left in his final 4, and there is no way that Kansas would accept a commitment from him. The issue isn't that he's more likely to commit to someone else over us, the issue is it seems like we're very clearly a backup option as mentioned earlier. Now that all those other options fizzled out all of a sudden we're under serious consideration again.
