Eric Garner & The Grand Jury & NYPD
How does the Grand Jury see that video footage and not be disturbed to the point that at least 12 of 23 jurors can come to the decision to at least go to trial.
Demographic breakdown of the jurors...13 Caucasians, 9 minorities
Other disturbing video shootings include John Crawford III (Fairfield, Ohio), Tamir Rice (Cleveland, Ohio).
Also CNN's "Black in America: Black & Blue" , a very disturbing documentary about the police relationship with Urban America.

Any thoughts on the team wearing the t-shirt? I put it in the same category as our three-point shooting today.

College students doing what college students do. If you want to be upset about people wearing that shirt the college basketball Georgetown Hoyas is not the place to look.

That criminal thug should be under arrest rather than on paid vacation.

That video certainly looks very bad. This cop is going to have a hard time articulating his actions using the Supreme Court's "objective reasonableness" standard for police use of force. The video started in the middle of the incident, and the Undersheriff claims the suspect was actively resisting (fighting) the officer before the camera was turned on. If that is true, then use of force policy would allow him to use a less-lethal weapon (pepper spray, taser, baton) to control the suspect until the suspect stopped fighting or resisting. However, by the time the video starts it's apparent the suspect is no longer resisting or fighting with the officer, and at that point the officer should have de-escalated his use of force as well. Officers are required to constantly re-evaluate the level of force used during an incident, as one level of force could be appropriate at one point, and a few seconds later it might be excessive. It can be difficult to downshift quickly from the adrenaline and emotions involved in a physical altercation, but it needs to be done. It's going to be hard for this officer to justify why he continued using that level of force after the suspect wasn't fighting him anymore. My guess is the officer gets fired fairly quickly, but it will be interesting to see if any assault charges are filed as well.

Forgive me, but at the start of the video Garner IS seen pushing away the hands of a police officer.

Not sure if serious or trolling Pertinax is a troll who doesn't realize it. His posts express views which tend to be ignorant, backward looking and backward thinking.

Not sure if serious or trolling Pertinax is a troll who doesn't realize it. His posts express views which tend to be ignorant, backward looking and backward thinking. It's a weak argument to accuse someone of being backward. Just agree to disagree. That having been said, he posts quotes and articles which are meant to be provocative, whether forward looking or otherwise.

His posts are backward looking and backward thinking. By his posts, IMO, he aims for preservation of the status quo, exhibiting an inability to adapt to a changing environment around him. What's weaker than that bull$hit post on the video, DFW? Whether Garner pushes the cop or not is irrelevant to the fact that he died needlessly over loosies, for which there is no defense. Believe me, I've read his posts, and I stand by my comments.

Don't just hang this nonsense out there as if you made one. Have the courage to say the actual point. Did he deserve to be killed for pushing the officer's hands away?

All through now? Are you all blind? Look at the film! Garner is pushing away at the cop's hands. It's tragic that he died but calling for a tar and feathering is just a watered down "Oxbow Incident."

I'm probably on your side (to a large extent) on these issues, but even I think you're just being a troll.

Hyperbole much? How about instead of a "tar and feathering" we instead just make police officers accountable for their actions? Unless you feel like they should have the right to murder civilians for simply resisting arrest.
