I am just glad we got out of the American. I miss playing Connecticut twice a year, but we will have them in nonconference soon. The American is 18-6 so far with losses to schools like UNC Asheville (East Carolina) and Oral Roberts (Tulsa). They also got crushed by Wake Forest (Tulane).

I actually think they are overrated. James Bell was way more important to their squad than people are understanding.

I'm surprised at how realistic many of them are in regards to the AAC.

At least the success of the Huskies' football team has made things so worthwhile in Storrs.

During the game today and in several posts it has been said that GU won't have the ability to move up the standings much once playing in the Big East and for selection sunday. While I agree that movement on the polls may be limited in Big East play, I think come selection Sunday the Big East(new?!) should do well. Finishing off the non conference season the Big East has 6 teams in the RPI top 50 and 7 teams in the Pomeroy top 50 and Sagarin top 50 as well! For a 10 league conference that is tremendous. Only DePaul is outside the RPI top 150. Barring a large number of losses in the next 2 days we are the second best league in the country going into conference play! Go Hoyas, go Big East. SUcks! Edited! how are you doing in your new league!

movement in the polls won't be limited in the least if we win.

Look at UVA they are ranked 5 and we destroyed them in the secret scrimmage this year. And Maryland is ranked 15. At the very least we should have been top 25 before today.

We would have been in the top 25 for most of our non-conference schedule but for the egg we laid against Butler. It was our own doing and the team knows that.

Do we crack the polls? wouldn't that mean demoting a team out of the poll that hasn't lost? None of the lower teams lost games. Does TCU or Northern Iowa drop out?

Another note GU has the best Strength of Schedule used for calculating RPI of any team entering Big East play and 15th in the nation. More than half of the Big East teams are rated higher than us in RPI and only two have worse records than ours so our SOS should not drop during Big East play. Kudos to the staff for making another great preseason schedule and to the BIG EAST for their overall preseason scheduling.

R. Jordan taking an indefinite leave of absence. Huge blow to SJU.

I'm more worried about Big East's winning percentage. Dropped off a cliff since start of conference play. Stuck at .500.

NY Post is indicating that he's had multiple infractions. Not a good sign. Chin up Hoya fans... Cuse is still 0-2 in BE play.

According to CBS sports' RPI, the BE has 7 teams in the top 50, with Marquette at 104, Creighton at 119 and DePaul at 207. That's very significant. Losses will knock some of those teams down, of course. But, at this point, we are only playing against each other obviously, so it's possible we could have in the range 10-14 games against top 50-100 teams, with several of those in the top 50. That's a huge difference from having to win games against Nova or Creighton last year just to get good wins.
