Takes place in Terre Haute, IN, on Saturday, Nov. 22. Indiana State hosts again. The men will do well to finish in the top 15. This race has been their Achilles Heel in the past, so I am hoping for a position equal to their final rating (13). The women, on the other hand, should be on the podium (top 4) and they are racing for #1. They seem to be in great shape and Coach Smith has them ready. The weather could play a factor as it has a 40% chance of rain on Saturday and that would be freezing rain. Flotrack has a video choosing the top 4 for men, women, and individuals: www.flotrack.org/coverage/251665-Whos-1/video/753748-Whos-1-On-To-Terre-HauteGO HOYAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

letsrun.com preview of the women's race: www.letsrun.com/news/2014/11/ncaa-xc-womens-preview-can-michigan-state-complete-dream-season/ So it’s anyone’s guess as to who coach Michael Smith elects to run in Terre Haute (My call and message to Coach Smith was unreturned). He could go with the seven that ran at Regionals — Coogan, Pierce, Nadel, Chambers, Cotton, Maag and Neczypor — but that would leave Keklak and Smith on the bench, and both of them finished in the top four at two meets each, including Pre-Nats. Perhaps Keklak and Smith are dinged up and Smith wanted to rest them; perhaps they’re done for the season? We won’t know until we get to Terre Haute and have a chance to ask Smith in person. Andrea and Kelsey are not dinged up and, in fact, are in great shape.

They're also lazy, terrible writers, and I'm aghast that theirs is the only surviving website of its sort that is updated regularly. /rant GO HOYAS!!!

How good is the coverage, Nevada? What are they able to show?

Usually, the coverage is pretty good, at least for the lead group. They have a vehicle (electric I hope) out in front of the pack with video cameras. With a XC race of this magnitude they usually have some sort of stabilizers, so the picture is not so jumpy. Then when the winner passes the finish line, they usually show all the rest of the runners finishing. If you are good, you can count the runners as they come in. But it is hard to determine, what team has won because at some point many are finishing within two or three seconds. Sometimes, if they use chip timing, they have the team scores along the way, maybe every 2K for the women's race.

At the 2K mark the women are not in the top 8; Arkansas leads with Michigan State 2nd.

It looks as if the Hoyas were 4th with 189 points; MSU 85, Iowa Stat 147, New Mexico 188.
16. Katrina Coogan 20:21.1 37. Sam Nadel 20:41 40. Andrea Keklak 20:44 ...104. Maddy Chambers 21:13.7

I'll take a podium finish. 3rd would have been nice. Iowa State had Bethanie Brown running and she has been hurt. She was in the top 40 at the 4k mark so that's a big boost for the Cyclones.

Great run by Andrea to squeak in at 40. Top 40 become All-Americans.

Those scores above are unofficial, but I don't see the Hoyas getting better than 3rd. They did beat Oregon by more than they did in the Pre-Nats, and Oregon had one of their best runner here, who didn't run at Pre-Nats. This was an improvement from last year, when the Hoyas finished 5th (and 3rd from BE teams, as Provy won and Butler finished ahead of the Hoyas). So a big congratulation to the Hoyas.

Andrea made up 19 places in the last 2K.
