Those of you that want to see us be able to win recruiting battles against the Kentuckys and Dukes need to pray for LJ having a season in which he has the option to leave. We need proof that we can put guards in the league and LJ should be a pro within 2 years. I agree. And I also think we need to just simply win, and win a few games in the NCAAs. Kids have short memories, and I bet they remember our terrible year last year, and the FGCU loss, more than winning the Big East.

Its actually the NBAPA... NBA teams prefer that the players stay more than a year at college, so they are more seasoned and prepared for the NBA. But nope. NBAPA always pulls the race card whenever that issue is being discussed. Race Card? smh..What race does the NBPA represent considering they have members of every one? Considerin the majority of the one and dones are african-americans... preventing their source of income by holding them from entering into the league is considered racist to many of these guys

The majority of early entrants are still African-Americans..

It has very little to do with it. It has everything to do with it. every owner and GM prefers that the players who they are drafting are seasoned and matured. because a lot of the high school kids or one and dones, as there are lebron james and kevin durant, there are a far more players who turned out to be a total bust. In the last NBA lockout, the GMs wanted that the players stay at least 2-3 years in college, but it was quickly shot down by the NBAPA ... there was not even a bargaining chip for them to negotiate, and then a lot of the players were whining that the execs are racists by even daring to proposing that the players stay multiple years in college. in the end, whatever. even if the players are required to stay 2-3 years in college, kentucky / kansas / duke will still get whom they want... the number may decrease, sure, but as briscoe and skal (who most likely won't be eligible anyway) committed to kentucky, the overcrowding of talents at one school do not really deter them from goin' there... heck even daniel orton who averaged less than 3 points a game at kentucky was drafted in the first round...

I think it's about having a more polished, stable product. There's the maturity issue. Guys like Kobe have their growth stunted by not going to college and then end up in rape allegation situations. And then in Kwame Brown's case he was just mentally destroyed by Michael Jordan and was never the same after that. In terms of the more polished product. Those college media interviews are really good training for the players being well spoken. You can see it just with the Hoyas how guys like Sims, Hollis, Otto, Greg Monroe, Hibbert pick up the mannerisms of JT3 from being with and observing JT3 during those interview sessions in their 2+ years at Georgetown post game media pressers. That kind of practice and having a sort of mentor/college coach is invaluable and when a high school kid misses out on that and is thrown to the NBA media their speaking skills growth seems to be stunted. You look at Dwight Howard, or Lebron and their speaking skills are really poor and really haven't improved at all and that hurts the NBA since they are among the best players in the game. If you compare the speakings skills of the players during the golden age of the NBA, MJ (3 years of college), Bird (4 years), Isiah (2 years), Magic (2 years) they run circles around Lebron and Dwight Howard. That really hurts the league in terms of popularity and ultimately hurts the player's popularity as well. What about Kobe and say Charles Barkley in the speaking department? It’s 100% about them trying to limit the risk on their investment imo Kobe is well spoken though boring because he is trying to speak like Michael Jordan. Just a much poorer clone of MJ in the charisma department. Sure there are a couple outliers among the high scoolers like him and Amare Stoudamire who speaks really well. But you have guys like Lebron and Dwight Howard who speak poorly and lack charisma. I really think that their growth was stunted in that department because they missed out even on a year of college. The NBA is an entertainment and marketing package. You need to have your best players be spokesman for the league. There's really something missing with Lebron as good as he is on the court which is why the popularity of the league at least domestically has been hurt since the Golden Age of Jordan, Bird, Magic. What about Charles Barkley? Charles Barkley is highly charismatic, intelligent and well spoken which is why he is popular. 3 years at Auburn certainly made him a better man.

What’s preventing the owners from drafting Seasoned players?? The measure is designed to save the owners from themselves. If you don’t want to draft an 18 year old kid? Don’t, end of story. How does the NBPA benefit from 18 year old kids being able to get drafted? For them It’s a bargaining chip, nothing more
