We are now 2-3 against Big East teams not named Villanova, St. John's, and Seton Hall.
Desperately need wins against DePaul and Butler before going into Nova.
If we go 1-2 over the next 3, we will very much be on the outside looking in.

This surprises me. But it is also probably a good reminder that you have to consider not only what you are doing, but what everyone else is doing. I feel like our resume needs some work (in particular in the "big wins" column), but it seems like lots of other teams resumes need some work too if we are at a 7 right now. I like where we are in the bad losses column. I tend to be doom and gloom on this stuff, so while it is early (and meaningless I suspect) it still feels good that someone who has spent a lot more time than me studying this thinks we are a 7 seed right now.

Eleven of the AP Top 25 suffered losses this past week: #6 Louisville, #9 Kansas, #11 Iowa State, #16 West Virginia, #18 Oklahoma, #19 Arkansas (twice), #21 Seton Hall, #22 Baylor, #24 Oklahoma State (twice) and #25 Wyoming.

29 in the AP, 36 in the coaches. Not sure how we dropped 4 spots after winning twice, but a couple of wins this week and we will earn some respect.

I would prefer to win every game from here on out, move our way up the rankings toward the top, and earn a high seed - and live with the consequences!

www.si.com/college-basketball/2015/01/22/power-rankings-kentucky-virginia-arizona-gonzaga-duke16 GEORGETOWN HOYAS LAST WEEK: NR RECORD: 13-5 The Hoyas' defense, which got lit up by Wisconsin in its marquee non-conference game in November, has been making serious progress. On Monday Georgetown held Villanova to its second-worst scoring output (0.883 PPP) of the season, and forced the Wildcats into their highest turnover percentage (25.9) of the season. The Hoyas now have the Big East's second-best D in conference play (after Marquette), and if they can cut down on fouling, which they still do far too often, they have a shot at becoming No. 1. Next up: 1/24 at Marquette, 1/27 vs. Xavier

Lit up? Not quite, Luke.
But it is nice to find ourselves in these rankings again.

We allowed 1.13 PPS against Wisconsin, but to be fair they are the #1 offensive team in the nation but also to be fair that's below their average, so I wouldn't say lit up either.

Lit up? Not quite, Luke. But it is nice to find ourselves in these rankings again. Seriously? We lost by 3 points. And shot 53% from the field versus Wisconsin's 48%. And we crushed them in 3-point percentage as well. Was he talking about the free throw line? Come on SI!

At that point I'd say GU gave them the hardest time defensively and at the end of the day, if GU shut down their top player then there was no "lit up."

There is no way he actually watched the game. I don't even think he knew the score of the game when he typed his analysis up. He just saw that we lose to Wisconsin and that we crushed Nova and assumed that we have drastically improved. Actually I was more disappointed with the KU loss at home than the Wisconsin loss at Atlantis........

Luke Winn @lukewinn 8m8 minutes ago @nilscoqauvin Lit up may be extreme. But it was worst D vs UW of any of its big non-conf opps. (Duke, Cal, Okla, Marq) It wasn't great.

Just to be clear, the "worst D" in non-conference gave up 68 points to UW, which, and I am no mathematician, I believe is less than the 69 given up by Oklahoma and the 70 given up by Duke, and equal to the 68 given up by Cal. But I'm not a mathematician.
