Not sure what upsets me more. Georgetown only getting 5 votes, or the fact that someone gave UMCP 3 votes.

We are so far under the radar we barely register. Unlike last year, though, I do believe we will at some point crack the rankings.

I'm just sad that only one big east team made the rankings. We unfortunately don't have any teams that get the "reload" bonus where they get ranked high even if losing a lot. No way Louisville should be in the top 10 based on who's returning.
We gotta hope Big East teams make enough noise in the non-conference to have 3 or so ranked teams by New Year's Eve.

Pre-season Top 25 rankings are worthless. They are rarely worth the time and effort to even read. I'd wait until the New Year, when conference play is underway, before worrying about how the Big East is faring vis-a-vis other conferences. At this stage, it's merely guesswork on the part of a largely uninformed electorate. . .sort of like U.S. general mid-term elections.

It's pretty crazy that we could end up playing 3 top 10, maybe even top 5, teams in within 2-3 weeks. Florida, Wisconsin and Kansas. Although, we'd likely have to beat Florida, of course, to make that happen

After we spank that you know what down in the Bahamas and fly home with the trophy, we'll be ranked.

Fewer votes than Maryland and GWU. The LJ Peak show isn't on prime time just yet...

Let's keep flying under the radar. Those rankings mean nothing in November and December.

As much as I think the rankings are dumb, it's key to get our teams on TV - and the ranked ones are those that get the stories and headlines. Hoping we do well in Atlantis to stake our claim.

Amen to that. I'd take a 2 and 1 record in Atlantis so long as one of those wins are against the Gators. Not too sure how I'd feel about going 2 and 1 however beating UCLA or Oklahoma in the losers bracket.

Watching Florida play right now, though slightly depleted, they are very beatable. I think we win that game.

The problem is a conference can keep the rankings hostage if they have a bunch of teams ranked top 25 at the beginning of the season. You saw this with the Big Ten last year where they just beat up on each other and just kept absorbing the top 25 rankings to stay ranked even though they were highly overrated save Wisconsin. You are seeing this now in college football with the SEC stacking the top 25 rankings. This year the ACC is stuffing the rankings. As long as they can keep loses in house (conference) they will maintain their 5 top 25 rankings. With Villanova being the only ranked team in the Big East the main way for us to get ranked is to win OCC vs the ranked teams and beat Nova.
