Georgetown also earned seven trips to the U.S. Collegiate Championships, bringing home the gold medal – Georgetown’s first – in 1988. Georgetown named him Coach of the Year in 1987. A four-year heavyweight oarsman at Georgetown himself, Devlin was heavyweight captain his senior year and was a member of the 1969 and 1971 Dad Vail gold medal teams. After college, he competed with the New Haven Rowing Club and the Potomac Boat Club, wining two gold medals in the Canadian Henley and a silver at the U.S. Nationals. Devlin was also a finalist in the 1972 Olympic Trials and the 1974 and 1975 World Championship trials.
