Probably depends on how confident - or not - the staff feels about Dozier. Although I guess taking Galen would not preclude Dozier, might just make it tighter for other targets.

Probably depends on how confident - or not - the staff feels about Dozier. Although I guess taking Galen would not preclude Dozier, might just make it tighter for other targets. We've got at least two scholarships for 2016 (DSR & Hayes), possibly a third from Trey Mourning (not sure if he can relinquish his scholarship like Doug McDermott did, but it's possible) and it's probably pretty likely another opens up due to transfer or early entry. We have three open scholarships for 2015. Now that Rabb's cut us, we're pretty much down to 4 targets (Robinson, Dozier, Skaal and Tacko) that have any possibility of signing with us this fall, and waiting on a spring late bloomer, transfer or recruit that's reopened their commitment due to a coaching change or NCAA sanction (come on down UNC / SUCKS) seems like a risky gambit when we could use a point guard. So really, it's all about whether you think (1) Skaal is a realistic possibility and (2) whether you'd want to be able take Tacko if Skaal commits. Honestly, assuming Robinson is reasonable PG recruit, I'd rather get Robinson this weekend, take Dozier if we can get him, and then take either Skaal or Tacko. Dozier's probably the most important 2015 recruit for the program long term, since he's the most likely to be a lottery pick as a guard, which would be a big help in strengthening our biggest recruiting weakness--signing high level guards (Peak, obviously, could be a big help here too, though Dozier would presumably be a better example to trot out when recruiting point guards).

Come on fellas, I know one of the insiders knows something. Did he hate D.C.? Is it a bad fit? Are both sides chilling until after PJ makes a decision?

From what I gathered from 247 and Rivals...he really enjoyed his visit.
Is not confused on who we've prioritized as guard recruits

247 "experts" are unanimous that he will commit to the Hoyas. His other offers seem to be from mid-major types.

Since no one else seems to want to say what's up, I got you guys. A very trusted source of mine told me we are the favorite and we are just waiting to see what's happening with Dozier before we offer. Expect a quick offer and commitment if Dozier commits elsewhere

Based on who else is after him, it would be hard to imagine him turning down the Hoyas. I wonder if Dozier were to commit to us,and Skal commits elsewhere ,if the staff would still take Robinson. Not suggesting that is my preference...just that it might happen.

This seems to be a Benimon-type situation. Anyone else get that feeling? Fingers crossed - that Dozier picks us and/or that Robinson works out better than Benimon did.

Does anyone think Benimon would have turned into a first team all BE performer had he stayed 4 years? Obviously not. Is that how we feel about this kid? Is that what we think his ceiling is? I only made that comparison based on the other schools interested in him and the fact that we swooped in pretty late. I really know nothing about the kid other than the little bit that's been posted here.

Benimon was a spring signing I think when the tank was empty. Heading into the fall would lead me to believe they see something in the guy that others may not value as much.

From the vids and writeups I hope we land this kid whether we get Dozier or not. Dozier is a 2 yr at best kid while Robinson and Tre are 3/4 yr kids. I don't see how the two affect each other. I hope the staff told the kid that he has a true offer but just don't announce until after PJ.......

There are 3 open spots and the program could use 2 ball handlers anyway. If the staff likes the kid enough to make him a back-up option to a player that's 50/50 at best to verbal to you, then why not get the kid now?

You can argue with me all you want about it, but if Dozier comes, do you think Robinson will want in - with Campbell signed on as well? Where will the minutes be? Do you think Robinson would want to wait till he's a Junior to compete for a starting job?
You can't sign two PG in the same class, especially after having one in the class before.

I'd still rather have too much than too little.. I don't buy into the idea that every kid needs to see a lot of time as a freshman or soph..

IMO we've descended smack dab in the middle of a very tricky situation in regards to filling these last three scholarships. Let's think about it for a minute, who really wants to sit behind White at the SF position, Govan at the C position, or split time with Campbell and Dozier if we nab him at the PG position? This is why IMO, Tacko Fall was a must going forward. Tacko may have been a project but he would've at least had time to develop while filling a need. So at this point we still could use the services of another center and preferably a shot blocker. I hope Galen has a clear understanding that Dozier is our #1 priority due to the fact of his ranking and in part that we've been on him for a couple of years now. But if it's true that Galen is a "Tony Parker like guard," that has been over looked then we need to pull him in real close before we have a second coming of Tacko Fall.
Sorry once again for killing the Galen thread talking about other key players.
