So let me get this straight - a school can be punished for a player faking his SAT score before enrolling in school (Memphis), but they can't be punished for fake (absurdly easy) classes at the actual university...

Lower Canada Univertsitee is frantically restructuring its curriculum as we speak. TV Watching I and II, Advanced Principles of Shoplifting, and Investment Strategies For Shoe Company Bribes are only the first salvo.

To be fair, those classes already existed, they just now feel comfortable enough to make the final exam open book

NCAA cannot stop corruption and bribery in college sports and it refuses to punish academic fraud. What is it good for besides cashing checks from television networks?

If my calculations are correct, the NCAA determination on the allegations of academic misconduct at North Carolina should be announced in about one month. nj, I truly admire your optimism. Well, at least I had the timeline right. Nothing else.

So, perhaps it is up to the university's accreditation board to act. Here, UNC is under the governance (if I can properly use that term in this context) of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges, which allegedly oversees schools located in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. An investigation into the programs at UNC was commenced by the SACSCC in 2015, which placed UNC on probation and required Chapel Hill to report back in twelve months about scholastic reforms; I cannot find any update. I guess SACSCC works as efficiently and promptly as the NCAA. www.wral.com/accrediting-organization-puts-unc-ch-on-12-month-probation/14704731/

THis is laughable though not surprising that UNC skates by without even a slap on the wrist. Still ridiculous though, and if they were any of about 340 different D1 schools they’d be getting a total different ruling today.
Basically, NCAA is saying if you offer sham classes to all students that you’re fine? NCAA is basically calling any school that adheres to academic standards suckers. Based on today’s ruling i don’t see why any program should ever declare their athletes academically ineligible. The sham continues. I’m sure glad the FBI got involved since the NCAA clearly is as corrupted by money as everyone else.

Be prepared to be underwhelmed... Fix is in on this one. Nice call. You had this one pegged from the outset. The NCAA is a complete joke. I wonder if POTUS will chime in? Probably not. Or maybe he'll congratulate the NCAA for wading through all of the fake news.* * I apologize for politicizing this thread.
