Guess I'm different but I take no joy in seeing Syracuse under investigation. How about under a meteor? The Rosetta Probe just sent back its first packet of data from Syracuse - no life found.

It has been more than 30 days since the hearing, so findings could be announced any time between now and end of the year (an announcement on Christmas of no postseason play for Christmas??). Visions of sanctions dance in our heads.

I'd guess that the findings will be released on Friday, December 26. That will be 56 days after the hearings; I believe it will be closer to the 60 days than 30 days, because of the volume of accusations levied at the Orange. Fridays are a traditional news-dump day, so the NCAA report could well get lost in the weekend news cycle. Besides, it's Boxing Day in Canada. . .which I think would also apply to Lower Canada Community College. Finally, it will fall during semester break, meaning the undergraduate student body will be back home on Long Island and in North Jersey, and the only couches that can be burnt will be those belonging to their parents.

This is how Boeheim encourages players to stay another year. goo.gl/mjqWj6He did the same thing last year after Ennis left a year earlier than he wanted Ennis to...a scummy way to run a program... On Edit - Apparently the link address was inappropriate for Hoyatalk...

IF you just go to the deadspinline.com home page, the article on Boeheim is on the front page today.
There is a lot about the Syracuse program that needs to be fumigated.

HoyaTalk has been good all year. All we want for Christmas are Syrapuke sanctions.

Did a quick cruise through the syracusefan.com site; they are expecting to hear about the NCAA decision within the first two weeks of January, because of the holiday break. I had thought it would come this Friday (see earlier in this thread), but I'm willing to wait for good news.

While their moment of reckoning will be enjoyable, I am somewhat saddened by the fact that they suck so badly this year that a tourney ban may be a moot point.
Of course, that same sucking is a thing of great joy and beauty.
One of life's puzzlements...

Maybe it's my own cynicism but I still have the feeling that they'll get next to nothing as far as penalties. Same with UNC.

Not the NCAA report for which we have been waiting, but a federal magistrate in New York has denied Syracuse University's appeal of his decision requiring the university to release documents relating to its investigation of former assistant coach Bernie Fine. Should make for some interesting reading. www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2014/12/judge_syracuse_university_bernie_fine_appeal_laurie_espn.html#incart_riverEDIT: Interesting note in the first comment posted under the article, which alleges that the school has seen the NCAA report, and that twenty violations have been found, resulting in loss of scholarships and a post-season ban. Again, this is unsubstantiated and unconfirmed, so take it with the proverbial grain of salt until further notice.

Any truth to the rumor that Pete Gaudet is interviewing to replace him?

Just took a stroll through the cultural septic tank known as syracusefan.com, and the sentiment on the Orange board is that the university already knows what the NCAA decision is, that they are in the middle of an appeal of the imposed sanctions, and that they are expecting (1) vacating of wins, (2) loss of scholarships and (3) a one-year post-season ban for the 2015-2016 season; the supposition is that SU is fighting the imposition of the post-season ban on the appeal and that they expect the appeal to fail. It is believed that a public announcement of the sanctions will be made within the week, perhaps as early as Friday. There are posters threatening to file class action suits against the NCAA for this miscarriage of justice, there are posters calling for Boeheim's head if the basketball program is determined to have been responsible for the sanctions, and there are posters complaining that SU is being unfairly singled out for punishment. A little something for everyone.
Then again, this constitutes rumor and hearsay, and again should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt. We should know soon.

I'm continuing to monitor syracuse.com and syracusefan.com. Latest news (read as rumor) out of Lower Canada is that SU and the NCAA have reached an agreement, to be announced shortly, calling for the vacating of fourteen wins, the loss of two scholarships (one in 2015-2016 and one in 2016-2017), and a one-year post-season ban, which may be imposed as early as this coming post-season. This comes from the syracusefan.com site; nothing being reported yet on syracuse.com (the website for the Syracuse Post-Standard newspaper). Again, rumor only, but getting very intense in terms of forum activity.
Still taking with a grain of salt. . . .

Hey, they still love us there. Any opportunity to declare how much they hate Georgetown, the colors blue and gray, the use of a bulldog mascot, John Thompson, JT3, yada yada yada. . .it's clear that they like the money from being a member of a Power 5 conference, but they really miss the basketball in the Big East in general and us in particular. UConn gets the same treatment there. I think they've realized that they are now in a conference with schools with which, except for a few exceptions (i.e, the former Big East schools now in the ACC) they have very little in common.
Oh, and they really miss going to the Garden for the Big East Conference tournament. . .they don't like the logistics of the ACC tourney.
