Why do I have the feeling that he would have been treated far differently by the school if he were on the SU basketball team?

With 2 transfers and Chris McCullough declaring for the draft, that puts Cuse at 10 scholarship players for next year. Shouldn't that mean their scholarship ban starts next year? They were allowed to delay the ban a year if it would have affected a player that was already on scholarship or signed an LOI for next year. That's not the case any more.

My understanding is that they could delay the ban a year to accommodate already-awarded and accepted scholarships for the fall. The issue is if SU awards another scholarship, as an example to Thomas Bryant, the ban starts this year. There were no other scholarships available for them to award without accelerating the scholarship reduction until the transfers and McCullough's decision to enter the draft occurred; they now have scholarships available. It probably makes sense for them to accelerate the ban now, to get Bryant into school. . .er, the SU practice facility. He's likely a one-and-done anyway.

Reading McCullough's tweet/announcement puts into proper perspective the horrible circumstances some kids come from when they go play college ball.
Imagine how bad this kid's background was if Magoo was a positive male role model.
Jeepers....

Syracuse.com seems to imply that Syracuse can either take the scholarship hit now instead of delaying a year, or they can take Bryant (if he chooses them of course) and postpone for a year. Adding Bryant would put them at 11 scholarships again (barring additional transfers), so they're would be 3 free schollies to ban. www.syracuse.com/orangebasketball/index.ssf/2015/04/how_does_chris_mcculloughs_departure_impact_syracuses_scholarship_situation_for.html

I think syracuse.com misread the NCAA sanction. It specifically imposed the ban for the 2015-2016 season, but indicated that it could be delayed one year to accommodate those scholarship offers already made and accepted. It did not permit SU to offer additional scholarships above and beyond those already committed and to delay the ban at the same time.
At least that's my reading of the sanction. We'll see how it plays out.

Picked Creepy over Slimy. Maybe this will hasten Magoo's retirement, especially if they have another mediocre year and don't make the tourney.
Dare to dream.

There is no way in hell that Syracuse was going to participate in Discovery in this case and potentially allow Magoo to be deposed about Bernie's antics.
Surprised it took this long. I bet they paid huge dollars.

Only at Syracuse would the students choose Eric Devendorf as a role model.

It's ironic to me that in a time when kids record everything on their phones and post it to social media outlets that it's now that the kiss cam is an issue. Everyone is carrying their own kiss cam and reaching far wider audiences than the actual kiss cams. I don't envy those that go to college now and are constantly recording moments and experiences (whatever they may be) instead of just enjoying them. Having said that, if you're a woman attending Cuse, I'd worry less about a kiss cam and would instead suggest a body cam just in case your credibility is questioned later after, say, a run-in with a starter on the basketball team. It's a scary pattern and precedent they've set there.
