Alex Kline @therecruitscoop 2m Georgetown offered 2016 DeMatha (MD) SG Markelle Fultz. Any local folks have info on the kid? collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/09/15/alani-moore-markelle-fultz-shine-at-dmvelite-80/Another player who turned heads with his performance was fast-rising 2016 combo guard Markelle Fultz of DeMatha Catholic (Md.).
A prime example of how much a strong July performance can impact a prospect’s recruitment, the 6-foot-3 Fultz has been offered by Xavier, DePaul, Rhode Island Towson and High Point despite never playing a game at the varsity level for DeMatha.
Fultz played JV for DeMatha last year before starring throughout the AAU season with DC Blue Devils, finishing out his summer with DC Premier 17U and leading Premier in scoring at the adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas. The rising junior recently visited Xavier and spoke highly of the visit and campus, implying that the Musketeers could be an early favorite for his services. www.verbalcommits.com/players/markelle-fultzHe's #42

“I got moved up to the varsity about halfway through the season, but I only played in about four games,” he said. “I learned a lot; the varsity level is way different from JV. The players are a lot stronger and taller. I learned a lot.” The fact that Fultz paid his due on the JV squad speaks to his attitude and his support system, Jones said. “He accepted playing JV in the beginning, knowing that he was good enough to play varsity,” he said. “But it was a mutual decision made that we all thought was going to be best for him, and clearly its worked out for him. … To be honest with you, the people that he has in his corner - his Mom and Keith Williams, particularly; the people that he listens to and trusts - they’re really solid. They’re not into the quick gratification; they know that he’s a work in progress and they’re just all about him keeping his nose to the ground and continuing to work, and anytime you’re hearing that on a daily basis at home and at school, you’ve got a really good chance to really become something.” Fultz’s quickness and athleticism should help him contribute immediately, and Jones is excited to see the progression of a player who should be next in a long line of DeMatha standouts. dmvelite.com/news/next-markelle-fultz

Georgetown Hoyas offer a pair of DeMatha guards This past Saturday, the Georgetown Hoyas hosted a pair of unofficial visitors from DeMatha Catholic High School in fast-rising '16 combo guard Markelle Fultz and five-star '17 shooting guard D.J. Harvey and the pair walked away from the Hilltop holding scholarship offers. Fultz, a member of DeMatha's JV team as a sophomore, has parlayed a growth spurt and a very strong summer into a number of high major scholarship offers before his first full season as a varsity player for head coach Mike Jones. In recent weeks, Fultz has seen his recruitment take a major jump as he's picked up offers from the likes of the Hoyas, Maryland Terrapins, Washington Huskies, Miami Hurricanes, Cincinnati Bearcats and the George Mason Patriots. Accounting?! How many GU players have gone to our Business School? Roughly, about 15 percent. Since 1972, that list would include Blaylock, Beal, Berry, Bosanac, Broadnax, Bryant, Caprio, Churchwell, Dalton (MBA), Esherick, Gaughan, Izzo, Jaren Jackson, Kaull (MBA), Brian Kelly, Dan Kelly, Lockhart, Lubick, MacDermott, Millen, Morgan, Paulus, James Reed, Robinson, Samnick, Simms, Williamson, and Yeoman. Trivia question: Who was the last SFS player on the basketball team?

Because no recent players studied business the major is no longer available to players? Is that your point?
