Does anyone know if, along with the IAC, Georgetown has hired a strength coach? Last time it was discussed that Georgetown still didn't pay for a good one. Meanwhile, it seems like almost all other major programs have a great strength coach driving big changes in the offseason and in-season. Anyone have a sense of what Georgetown's plan is here?

I know one major program (a blueblood) made an offer to one of our primary trainers for considerably more money and they turned it down in part due to talks with Big John. That tells me two things: we must have good trainers to be targeted by programs like that and we still don't pay quite enough.

Color me shocked. There's barely wireless on campus and yet they pulled that off.

Is this real-time? It's been two months and there doesn't appear to be very much going on.

The time lapse option is awesome. At this rate, the building should be open around 2045.

Is this real-time? It's been two months and there doesn't appear to be very much going on. Site prep work and utility mapping/relocation isn't much to look at, and can take awhile, but you can't really do much of anything without it. The construction permit for meaningful site work was issued sometime in the last two weeks, per this Washington Business Journal notice published a week ago: 3700 O St. NW: Site civil work at Georgetown University for the new John R. Thompson Jr. Intercollegiate Athletics Center. Georgetown broke ground on the 144,000-square-foot, $62 million Thompson Center in September. It will host an academic center, auditorium and team meeting facilities, practice courts and locker rooms, weight training and sports medicine rooms, and the Georgetown Athletics Hall of Fame And where will the tennis team play now? Some combination of Yates, GW, and Visitation, AFAIK.

Thanks, Russky. One of my GU interviewees is on the tennis team, so I was wondering where she would be playing this year.

FWIW per Lee Reed's email, they also lost some time due to stormwater regulation changes: It's by no means the only project in the area to be so impacted; Phase 2 of the Silver Line to Dulles is in a similar boat.

Progress is in the eye of the beholder, of course, but after six full months, that's not much to go on. Maybe there are delays which no one wants to point out, which is OK, but if GU is planning opening this in the summer of '16, time to get some dirt flying.
Some schools can build half a stadium in six months. (Some can't put a stake in the ground after ten years, but that's another subject.)

I am confident this will get built. Whether it will open on time is anybody's guess, but I don't have any fears of this turning into an MSF type of situation. I think it's far too big a commitment at this point for that to happen.

I heard this winter was particularly bad with snow - perhaps that caused a bit of delay? Still, with spring here, there's more than enough time to make great progress.
