Wells Fargo is completely open on 1/19. Why can’t they switch the Nova home/aways? They’ve gotten Saturday games with us 2 years in a row and we’ve gotten them at 9PM Monday two years in a row. The Wizards play at 7PM on 2/7 which is plenty of time to switch over with a 12PM tip.

9pm marquee games have a pretty good crowd at Verizon. I thought Marquette and Nova were great last year. I know it sucks for some folks who cant make the trip down, but I dont think the BE is going to schedule with those considerations in mind.

In my opinion, best weekend trip for out of towners is Saturday, January 17 vs. Butler, then sticking around for our Monday, January 19 matchup vs. 'Nova (MLK day too). That's probably what I'll do.
Schedule ain't perfect, but what can you do? Never will be. Just the reality of our new conference. Get out there and have fun supporting the Hoyas. What's more important, the Hoyas, or the team/time they are playing? At first glance, I don't think anything looks too unreasonable here.

Upon further reflection, I am just annoyed that the Villanova (and Kansas, although that was already well known) games are on weeknights. For some reason I believed that in the old Big East the Syracuse game was almost always a Saturday in late February and I was trying to understand why the same wouldn't be true of Villanova now, but looking back I see my memory isn't quite accurate - it's just that if it wasn't Cuse, it was Louisville or Nova or Pitt or UCon or at least a good Marquette or ND team. Time to accept the new normal (and hope Marquette, St. John's, Xavier, etc. can rise to the level of marquee opponent sometime soon - although all of those would be weeknights, too). See you for Butler, most likely.

I know it sucks for some folks who cant make the trip down, but I dont think the BE is going to schedule with those considerations in mind. We had a shade over 9,000 for Marquette and 11,200 for Nova last season. My personal recollection is the energy is both crowds was okay, given the circumstances, but nothing to write home about. And we certainly would've drawn better if those were at 7pm (we did 12,100 for Creighton later in the season) or on a weekend (like the 13K for Butler or 11,800 for Xavier on Saturdays). It gets to a point implicit in Jack's point above--with the current state of the Big East, the number of potential marquee games is more limited, so you find yourself saying "well, at least give me a good start time for Nova". And we didn't get that.

I do like the breaks between our games. Early in BE play we have mostly 2-3 days off between games but once Feb and March roll around, we have less games, giving time for our players to recoup. Doubt we will end up with a top 5 SOS but we'll see. Need everyone in the BE to play well OOC.

Kind of weird that we play Xavier, Creighton and Marquette twice before play our first time against Seton Hall or St. Johns.

And we didn't get that. In all honestly, I'm not even sure Nova is that big of a deal as a marquee game. We are mostly saying that because they were good last year, and if the big east is scheduling based on last year, you could understand why they might think nova playing other teams on weekends is better than Gtown-Nova.

Most important thing is that we rise to the level of a marquee opponent for every team we play.
