More: Last year’s official roster listed Smith as weighing 350 pounds, but he appeared considerably leaner while viewing the proceedings with teammates D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera and Jabril Trawick.
“Josh has worked hard this summer,” Thompson said. “Now he has to keep on doing it.”[/b][/quote] Thanks - not easy cutting and pasting on an iPhone.

About a week ago III was on the 980 In the Locker Room Show and made a reference that Josh was now going around campus wearing tight tank shirts showing off his physique. III stressed Josh remains a work in progress and indicated that he was never going to be slim (I'm paraphrasing here), but that Josh just needs to be able to be in condition and at a weight that will allow him to be effective on both ends of the court.
Also Michael Bohlin of Hoyas 247 fame caught a glimpse of Josh a couple of weekends ago at a GU football game and claimed Josh looked real good, perhaps the best since his arrival at UCLA.

For Joshua, and for the Hoyas, I hope the reports translate on the court. Assuming the reports are accurate, kudos to Joshua for recommitting himself and putting in the work. Time to make the most of this chance!

You know big john asked the audience if they knew who the best point guard for georgetown was in history. ALl chimed in iverson floyd jackson smith jwall etc etc bebe and he said POINTING TO THE AUDIENCE THAT IT WAS US the fans us COACHES and experts we always POINTING OUT what he or a player or his son what THEY SHOULD BE DOING yup the best point guards in gu history and you know Pretty darn rang true.. we all should step back take a deep breath let the coaches coach the players play and THE GAMES BEGIN> as long as the big guy ARE MEAN i will be happy dont think big john would disagree with THAT but you never know.

I love our chances with Smith back and looking "considerably leaner".

I was at both events yesterday and second the view that Josh looked very fit -- so much so I don't think he needs to lose any more weight at all. I ran into him at one point (fortunately for me, not literally) and when I commented on how great he looked, he beamed like folks who a proud of their dieting tend to do and said "gotta get it done. It's my last year.". I have to think the event yesterday -- all the reinforcement I'm sure he got and seeing the legendary (and financially successful) alum players - helped really embed that motivation. VERY excited for the coming year...

Great news so far. The impact on our rebounding and defense of an in shape Josh is hard to describe. If he looks like his freshman year he's better than his freshman year because he's way stronger now and his footwork is better. Honestly I would take freshman Josh in a second so freshman shape, senior game would be incredible.

Going to class is easier than losing that kind of weight. I'm optimistic and that's not typically my M.O. I think I'm also a sucker for a comeback story. Hopefully, I don't feel like a sucker when this season is over.

'Bril, DSR et al. will not let Josh backslide. Excited to see him be a real force for the Hoyas, and position himself for a pro career.

Off The Court with Joshua Smith A BIG EAST Digital Network interview with Georgetown center Joshua Smith. Jan. 23, 2015 Thanks for that Dan. If that interview is any indication, I'd bet that JT3 was a big reason why Joshua transferred to Georgetown. Both fairly quiet and considered off the court and incredibly competitive without being too vocal or outwardly demonstrative on it. Great snippet on the big man. But, a Pats fan? He may never be able to go home again.

Not sure if there has been a lot of attention on what adding Othella to the staff a couple years ago has meant. I assume there's a lot of his influence going on here as well ...guy with 10+ year solid NBA career without (seemingly) an ego can command a lot of respect.

I see O talking quietly to the bigs on the bench often, definitely a positive influence.
