Someone used "binary outcome" to talk about Josh Smith - I don't disagree, it was being used in the "He will either contribute or not" - perspective.
I would use that term more specifically to in-game situations as it relates "binary" and Josh. His lack of mobility was so pronounced that he changes the look of Georgetown on both offense and defense and forces JT III to coach differently and his teammates to play differently than when he isn't in the game - more so than any player of the JT III era.
And while he will perhaps be in better condition this year - the scope of that isn't going to change too much. Offensively, he is a good passer, showed post-up skills, seemed to spread the floor as best he could - there is alot to work with. But he doesn't move real fast and is most effective on the blocks - there is a huge drop off to the "second best place for Josh Smith to score from" - he passes well out of the high post but he scores from the blocks. And defensively his lack of movement affects what GU can do on the defense end.
Smith's departure from the team last year hurt GU in a number of ways - first and foremost, JT III had spent a good portion of the season trying to figure out how to manage the dynamic and suddenly found himself starting from scratch. But we also never saw what the team looks like over a full season with Smith in the game.
I like the fact that Smith is returning, but I do think there could be huge - let's call them floor chemistry - issues - things that have nothing to do with attitude and alot to do with skills sets -

To be fair to Smith, I do think that our guards had some trouble getting the ball into him in the post. Some of that is on Josh Smith - I recall Ron Thompson calling him out on a few telecasts for not fighting for position well enough to get the ball - but I think some of it falls on our guards too.
To be fair, a lot of opponents were throwing zone defense out there and swarming Josh - to some degree, it's going to be hard to get it into the post in that circumstance anyway, but I think that we will have to improve upon that this year.
How slim and fit Josh Smith is will really govern these questions. If he lost a huge amount of weight and is a lot more mobile, I think some of the defensive difficulties will take care of themselves. If he's sort of in the middle (smaller than last year, but still not ideal) then I think it will be somewhere in between.

You've seen countless KL games up close over the years, Glide. Where would you rank Peak among incoming GU freshmen of the past? He's up there he's A. I.ish ... Gene Smith says he's a "franchise" lol I TOTALLY believe him, as a matter of fact I told him he was a BEAST. We watched and talked

The lone thing that worries me about White is that he seems to often have nagging injuries...or even major ones. Hopefully better conditioning, better strengthening and better luck will do him wonders.
