why on earth would III wait so long to offer the kid? he released a top 5 last week without the hoyas listed. i doubt we are a serious player here. looks like a UM/MSU battle.

scouthoops.scout.com/story/1547649-notebook-isaac-s-ascent?s=75The battle for Cassius Winston is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing storylines in the 2016 class. You have the two in-state schools, Michigan and Michigan State, and then also Ohio State, Georgetown, Pittsburgh, Marquette and Iowa State strongly in the mix.
While the Buckeyes and Hoyas are especially real threats right now, most with knowledge of the situation feel that Winston ends up with the Wolverines or the Spartans, and both schools, who have been recruiting well lately, have gone all in. Both Tom Izzo and John Beilein have seemingly moved on from other targets and are consumed with getting Winston

Mentioned as one of seven schools recruiting him the hardest.

I like this kid, but from the outside looking in it appears to be an uphill battle. He's a Michigan kid and both Michigan and Michigan St. are making him a priority.

No big surprise here. From a coaching/player development standpoint, he'd be a moron to go to Stanford or Harvard. Strong hunch he just has those on the list so he can look like a smart guy, but really it's a Mich-Mich St. battle.

Saw a tweet yesterday that he is announcing Friday and the finalists are Mich State, Pitt and Stanford (can't post tweets from work). Doesn't seem like the Hoyas were ever really in the running to begin with...

He removed Georgetown from his list towards the end of the summer. I would be shocked if it's not Michigan St!
