When someone says, "Don't watch the Paul George injury", seriously, don't watch the Paul George injury. Didn't see it live, but unfortunately caught a replay. Feel so bad for him. Hopefully he can return as the player he was before.
ESPN has spent the last few minutes talking about how this affects the US in the World Cup of Basketball. Um, who cares? These are exhibitions and fun advertisements for the NBA. But the Indiana Pacers just got destroyed. Wonder how this will affect players participating going forward. Mark Cuban screamed about this years ago, and he'll go crazy now. Can't really blame him.

Awful. I saw it too. Seriously, don't watch. I stopped watching after the initial shot of the injury. Suffice it to say that his leg is badly broken mid-shin after, it appeared, his foot got stopped by the base of the stanchion supporting the basket but his momentum kept carrying the rest of his weight and inertia. His foot and ankle were parallel with the floor and the rest of his leg was perpendicular to it. Gruesome. Best of luck for a full recovery. Horrible.

Reminded me a little of Nerlens in terms of the leg hitting the hoop at a bad angle. I wonder if there will be a movement for the hoops to be redesigned, so there won't be large structures sitting directly in players' running paths.

It really shouldn't require a movement though. It really is a poor design. If you know the guys will plow into it often enough such that it requires padding the structure, it may be time to redesign the structure so it's not there in the first place.

We passed through the T&M parking lot on our way home last night. The crowd was bigger than we had thought. Then the local news said the game was stopped short of regulation, and we wondered what that was about. Awful way to end the game. Best wishes and prayers for Paul (and the Pacers).

The support could easily be moved back 10 feet or so but might interfere with expensive seats.
