It's 5 posts now actually.. There was no point bringing the debate/discussion from the Williams thread to this one.. Some people think that players whose fathers played at GU should pay their own way. How is that issue not relevant to JJJr? No I think its more that players whose fathers played Hall of Fame Careers and make HoF money could have the resources to pay their own child's way. If it were Steve Ballmer Jr coming to GU, I'd hope his father would offer to pay as well. No reason to reply...this discussion is dumb and off topic. If anything happens with scholarships, I'm sure we'll find out in the last press release of the off-season.

I hadn't read the Williams thread. I apologize for adding an irrelevant post. Looks like most posters are in agreement. Definitely happy that we are going after Jaren Jr. It'll be interesting to see what schools recruit him and what schools stay away. Should be as clean of a recruiting scenario as there is considering Jaren Jr's mom is on the NCAA infractions committee. KC is pulling your chain. It's not that those of us who approved are in agreement - it's that we realize the post wasn't serious.

Park Tudor's Jaren Jackson Jr., is fouled by Frankton's Austin Compton, left, during their ISHAA 2A State Championship game. The Park Tudor Panthers defeated the Frankton Eagles 73-46 to win the IHSAA 2A Boys Basketball State Final Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Park Tudor’s Jaren Jackson Jr., is fouled by Frankton’s Austin Compton, left, during their ISHAA 2A State Championship game. The Park Tudor Panthers defeated the Frankton Eagles 73-46 to win the IHSAA 2A Boys Basketball State Final Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Jaren Jackson Jr. hopes the summer ahead is one of growth. The 6-foot-9 Park Tudor forward wants to add some muscle to his 190-pound frame. He wouldn’t mind more upper-body strength, and he hopes to stretch out his leaping ability. But Jackson, playing with Indiana Elite 2017 at this weekend’s adidas Uprising Gauntlet event in Fishers and Noblesville, says his top summer priority isn’t a physical one. Top high school basketball players descend on Central Indiana this week “I’m definitely working on being a better leader, to help me transition to high school better,” Jackson said. “I’m going to be a big-time player. I’m not going to have Bryce (Moore) and Trevon (Bluiett) anymore. I’m going to have to lead the freshmen by example.” Purdue coach Matt Painter was at Noblesville High School watching Jackson on Friday night. Assistant coach Brandon Brantley did the same on Saturday. The Boilermakers have already offered Jackson, as have Xavier, Indiana, Butler and IUPUI. “He’s a guy that makes everybody else around him better on the court, but makes everybody smile off the court,” Indiana Elite 2017 coach Ryan Owens said. “He’s a beautiful kid, and that’s a testimony to his parents.” A 4.0 student, Jackson boasts an NBA pedigree. His father, Jaren Sr., played 13 seasons in the league and is currently an assistant with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA’s Developmental League. A year young for his grade, Jackson has already helped Park Tudor win a pair of IHSAA Class 2A state championships. He averaged 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks as a sophomore. That included 11 points, nine rebounds and two blocks in a state championship victory over Frankton. usatodayhss.com/2015/park-tudors-jackson-has-purdues-attention#sthash.Fgi2FYJu.uxfs&st_refDomain=t.co&st_refQuery=/125bbXCAIP

scouthoops.scout.com/story/1545513As usual Jaren Jackson showed his enormous potential all weekend long. He is still a bit more of a long term prospect than an immediate producer, but the upside here is huge. Jackson looks to be a legit 6-foot-9 with a greater than 7-foot wingspan, and plays hard when he is on the court. He has to continue to get stronger and more aggressive, but Jackson made shots, showed a great desire to rebound, and also looks improved off the dribble. High-major schools have been offering, and down the road Jackson looks like a tremendous prospect.

What are the Hoyas chances here? Both he and his father seem tight lipped about it all.

Trailed by 19 in the second half and still pulled out their 12th straight win 57-54? Heck, they must have some talent along with Jaren II. Sign 'em up!

Well, we are certainly active on the recruiting front right now.

I get the sense that III and company wanted JJ Jr. to "earn" his offer, knowing all along that he would do so and receive an offer in due course, just as if his father was not a former Hoya star.

Up until now it was up to the prospect to reach out if he was interested etc... I never knew that. So that means Foster initiated all the contact and therefore at that point we are allowed to talk to him and obviously inevitably in this case offer a schollie?
