Hoyas have reached out to the Arizona de-commit. He's a top 25 prospect and will have his pick of schools to choose from. He's a kid with a combo skill set but staff sees him running the point. It'll be interesting to see if we make his list.

Anyone know at least part of the story on why he backed off from Arizona? 1. he wants to play PG, but his game is built to be SG. Zona has been tellin him that he will be playin SG as they will add a better guard than him which is... 2. probably allonzo trier and the others who made the cut for the US team 3. also rumored that he personally wants to jump into NBA after one season, so he wants to play where he can start and don't have much competition in minutes to boost his stats.

Thanks for the info. As for the alleged drama, is that just normal recruiting stuff that Zona did not want to deal with because of their elite recruiting status, or something else?

A long list of schools have called about five-star prospect Tyler Dorsey since his decommitment from Arizona according to his travel team coach Dinos Trigonis. Louisville, Connecticut, Missouri, Georgetown, Arizona State, Washington, Stanford, Colorado, Oregon State, Tulsa, California, Boston College, Cincinnati, Oregon and Florida are amongst the schools who have called.

Dorsey said he wouldn't shy away from going to a school with an established point guard on the roster. “It doesn't matter,” he said. “I can play with anybody in the country. It just depends on how I'm going to be used in the system.” The 6-foot-4 St. John Bosco (Calif.) product is known more as a scorer than a distributor at this point, given his ability to get his own shot and make plays with the ball in his hands. It was more of the same at the NBPA Top 100 camp, as he was making shots in the mid-range and getting to the rim consistently. Dorsey doesn't deny the score-first ability right now, but he seems his future at the one. “I feel like that's my best position at the next level,” he said. “I have to build those skills and attributes to be able to play that in the NBA. You see the guards in the NBA, most of them are score-first, but also can make the right basketball play. Russell [Westbrook], Damian Lillard. I call them lead guards. That's probably my best position.” Since the decommitment, a long list of schools have made contact. Oregon, Oregon State, Stanford, California, Arizona State, Georgetown, Kansas, Louisville, Missouri, Florida and Tulsa are among the schools that have reached out. “After the AAU season, I might cut my list a little bit,” Dorsey said. “I have no set plans or dates to do anything.” www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24591936/arizona-decommit-tyler-dorsey-starting-his-recruitment-all-over-again

Tyler Dorsey/6’4 Maranatha High School (California) 2015 Dorsey’s name received greater attention coming into the NBPA Camp due to his 2015 Tyler Dorsey decommitment from the University of Arizona. However, the recent transfer to Maranatha High brought a steady, consistent approach to the floor and displayed his pure pull-up game off the bounce. The well-built scoring guard has attempted to make the transition to the lead guard spot over the past year or so, yet he remains at his best off the ball as a primary scorer of the basketball. Smooth and fluid is the name of the game with Dorsey and the next step in his game is becoming less of a volume shooter and more of a volume scorer. However, he does have all the tangibles to do so and is also more than capable of creating for others off the bounce with limited dribbles on the perimeter on penetrate and kick opportunities. Expect for Dorsey’s recruitment to go national this July and for schools such as Kansas, Florida, Cal, Georgetown, and Louisville to be heavily involved in their pursuit of the big time scorer of the ball. hoopsintel.sportswar.com/2014/06/25/best-wings-at-the-nbpa-camp/
