Hilarious. I think we all knew that most of those speeches are jacked up for the cameras - leave it to III to tell it like it is.

This admission reminds me of the Depaul BET game this past season where Fox showed JT3 and his staff "strategizing" at halftime, i.e. standing in a circle not saying a word to each other while looking lost. At least we know now that that was probably intentional, although not a very effective use of their time.
I totally get where he's coming from, though. If I were him, I wouldn't want to be miked up either while addressing my players. That should stay between him and the team.

For all of the talk about Georgetown being so secretive, that was a very honest and open interview. All of those locker room vignettes are staged for every team that allows them. At least our coach called BS on it as it's a stupid practice that's not at all entertaining even for the viewers and, not remotely a peek into anything that a fan isn't normally privy to which is the intended selling point in the first place. Same crap with the NBA finals. Spoelstra's "impassioned" little halftime speech last night? Puh-leeze. The real speech was play some D, give the ball to LeBron, and Mario, stop sucking and playing dirty like you ALWAYS have. The rest is a joke. And Spoelstra is annoying even in staged speeches. I much prefer Popovich being all curmudgeonly and dismissive. At least that's real.

I wonder if that admission was contemplated and not off the cuff. I think Coach is hoping/expecting he won't be miked again.

I wonder if that admission was contemplated and not off the cuff. I think Coach is hoping/expecting he won't be miked again. I'm sure it was contemplated because it was an extremely well thought out answer touching on his own participation in the practice. It also seemed extremely sincere. BTW the title "Georgetown's John Thompson III gave a fake locker room speech for TV cameras" is ridiculous when he's telling you that every one of these locker room speeches are Reality TV.
