How is Kodye Pugh on an official visit today at Stanford when the team is at Arizona for their game? That's very very strange. I know this is the last weekend for visits officials or unofficial until after the Final 4 but to host a kid officially and the team be away for a game is something I have never to my knowledge heard of before. I guess the assistant who is the lead recruiter for Pugh could stay on campus but that is not how you would traditionally want to handle an Official Visit. Definitely strange? Hopefully it will be ancircumstance that works out in Georgetown's favor. You're absolutely right from a basketball standpoint, hoyas4ever, but in many non-basketball related ways, Stanford sells itself.

Just committed to Stanford and will enroll in 2016 Best of luck to the young man!! I'd like to see Gtown inquire about re-classing back to 2016 with his HS teammate Matt Turner..

It sucks he is not going to be a Hoya but congrats to Kodye Pugh for being a kid that said academics are the most important part of his decision and basketball was secondary and sticking to it. He went to visit Stanford when the team wasn't even in town and committed after the team got blasted by nearly 40 points by Arizona. I presume he spent most of his visit meeting with professors and seeing the ridiculously beautiful Palo Alto area of Northern California. I appreciate when kids say that education is their primary focus in the decision making process and it's not just lip service. Georgetown and Stanford are 2 of the best academic schools in the country. If he had made these claims about academics being the primary focus and then committed to Florida State then I would be terribly disappointed. No offense to anyone but Florida State is not the most academically challenging university in the country as I have several buddies that played basketball their and they wouldn't refute my claim.
I'm a fan Kodye's game and he also had nothing but great things to say about Georgetown all season long and throughout his recruitment to the media. Congrats to him and goodluck at Stanford unless he matches up with Georgetown or any other BIG EAST teams (Conference RPI Purposes).

"Currently, Pugh is finishing up his official visit to Stanford. However, he took a few minutes to break down his decision.
"I chose to attend Stanford because I felt like I was surrounded by a community of people that were like me. Talented in many different ways."
"Stanford kind of reminded me of a blend of Boys' Latina and Blair. At the end of the day, I couldn't find a reason why I shouldn't go there. I'm setting myself up for life."

The streak continues.
Hopefully the odor of this season will fade and we can start bringing some more pieces in soon.

The only problem is that Pugh didn't pick Stanford because of Dawkins. He actually picked it for the education. If Dawkins gets fired, I doubt it will matter to Pugh unless they hire a complete idiot to replace Dawkins. I am just as shocked as anyone that kid in this day and age was raised right and picked a school for the education as well or more then just basketball. Not too many Jagan Mosely and Kodye Pugh's out there.

As Lee Corso would say "Not so fast my friend" Coaching change has to signal a re-opening I would think.

I would imagine that he stays committed to Stanford through the hiring process, meet with the new coach and then make a final decision. As I stated previously all the available information points out that he didn't pick Stanford for Johnny Dawkins or just basketball.

Like I said, he didn't pick Stanford for basketball. We will see if the next head coach wants him as much. Can't see why he wouldn't but you never know. Might not fit style.
This kind of commitment by Pugh is refreshing in today's commit today decommit or transfer tomorrow!

This kind of commitment by Pugh is refreshing in today's commit today decommit or transfer tomorrow! Agree completely. It sounds like he made a great choice for himself. I'll more miss having him as a student at Georgetown than I will miss him as a ballplayer. Stanford, it seems, got a great kid. Best of luck to Kodye.

Former Hoya target DeAndre Hunter is being RS'd by Virginia this season(Jay Huff too)..
It looks as though Gonzaga is doing the same thing with another Hoya target Zach Norvell..
That's four 4* type kids taking non medical red-shirts their freshman seasons, very interesting imo..

I see Kodye in the transfer portal today. Listed as a RS junior. Hoya’s had interest, from Baltimore

I don't have all the info on his role at Stanford or whether or not health factored into this, but not seeing a whole lot of production from Pugh the last two years. Averaged 6 minutes a game the last 2 seasons.
Understand we may have wanted the kid years ago, but unless he was glued to the bench for a so-so team the past two years for no good reason, he may not have developed into a player that would be worth bringing in.

Hoya’s had interest, from Baltimore I really liked his game coming out of HS, to say his time @ Stanford has been underwhelming would be an understatement. Here's what an asst at Stanford had to say about Pugh last August before the knee injury that sidelined him for the year... Reads like he had a chance to make a jump this year, I'd kick the tires especially given that he'll probably get two years of eligibility... 247sports.com/college/stanford/LongFormArticle/Stanford-Mens-Basketball-Summer-Evals-Kodye-Pugh-134498487/#134498487_2
