Saw a story on Fox Sports that many of the major conference teams are paying $1million+ guarantees to smaller schools for non-conference home games. Not surprising in the least, especially with TV money climbing with every new contract.

Not surprising in the least, especially with TV money climbing with every new contract. Seven figure guarantees are rare and a function of supply and demand, e.g., it's harder to get an opponent in week 10 than week 1. Most guarantees range from $250K to $600K, which is where Patriot League schools like Fordham (scheduling Army and Cincinnati) and Holy Cross (Syracuse, UConn) are angling for.

The article was focusing on Big10 teams with a reference to Texas A & M; I would imagine that if Iowa can offer a high 6 figure amount, it won't be long before the majority of the big schools can follow suit.

The numbers are even higher, UMASS and Akron will each get 800K+ to come to happy valley this year. Ohio state pays a little more to come to Columbus to get beat up. www.pennlive.com/pennstatefootball/
