Are you saying that Jabril did a better defensive job on Cotton and thus he is a better athlete? If so a counter would be that Joseph Toumou often ended up playing better and more sound defense than his teammate AI. But Toumou was not in the same zip code as far as athleticism is concerned. Exactly. I've played against both of them, albeit not in an organized setting, but they were both on the same team and I had the chance to guard both of them. Aaron is a more threatening athlete, imo. The reason why Jabril has to gather is because he's more mechanical and predictable. I agree completely. Jabril is mechanical and uses brute strength to get his way. We know that Aaron is an incredibly gifted athlete, not quite as gifted as a ball player. I am a little surprised no one has mentioned Hopkins. In terms of pure athlete, he's up there.

I agree with what someone said about Aaron not being elite in terms of change of direction though, but it's easy to forget how much length he has sometimes. He definitely changes direction better on offense than defensive, which could be indicative of the fact that he thinks more on defense than he reacts. Does anyone know his official wingspan btw? I wouldn't be surprised if it's 7ft. Re: Hopkins, I he's definitely 4th, imo, or at least tied for 4th with Jabril. He's definitely one of the best athletes, in terms of fluidity, on this team though.

Basketball athleticism is not just forward speed and jumping ability. Great basketball athletes also need quick lateral movement, change of direction, ability to stop on a dime and pull up for a jumper or block one, and exceptional body control and balance doing all these things.
Many impressive athletic leapers cannot guard ankle-breakers with quick lateral movements and great body control.

I've been reading all your comments regarding this years Kenner League and you guys have got me pretty stoked for this years team. I currently live in the Midwest and have been planning on attending a few of the more closer away games since the restructuring of the conference. Games like; Creighton, Xavier, Butler, and Kansas. So are you guys suggesting that this would be a great year to put the Ole Jeep on the road?

Who is this Julian Peterson they are announcing as a Georgetown player here at Kenner? Big strong guy. Peak looks great, Copeland not.

TerrapinStationMD @terpstationmd 24m LJ Peak has 16 at the half of Kenner. overwhelmingly athletic, disinterested on defense though.
TerrapinStationMD @terpstationmd 37m I have no idea where LJ Peak fits in the Hoyas offense, but that kid is going to be fantastic for them.
Suk it UMD….

Ot But www.si.com/college-basketball/2014/06/30/college-basketball-top-recruits-JaQuan-Lyle-Kameron-Chatman-Isaac-Copeland-Keita-Bates-DiopBreaking down college basketball's top 25 recruits for 2014: Nos. 25-21 22. Isaac Copeland, Georgetown COLLEGE BASKETBALL Georgetown got very little offensive production from its frontcourt last season. Among nominal forwards who played in at least 15 games for the Hoyas, only Mikael Hopkins and Aaron Bowen averaged more than 5.1 points (Nate Lubick’s scoring average). Center Josh Smith being ruled academically ineligible in January didn’t help matters, either. The Hoyas’ frontcourt shortcomings should be eased by a recruiting class featuring two top-50 power forwards (the other is Chicago, Ill., native Paul White). Copeland is a smooth athlete with a diverse offensive arsenal, good court vision and solid ball handling. Athletic enough to exploit plodding forwards and big enough to overwhelm guards, Copeland creates mismatches with his combination of size and perimeter competency. He is an excellent fit for coach John Thompson III’s “Don’t call it Princeton” offense, and he should get major playing time right away. If Smith can get his academics in order and stay in shape – a dubious proposition, to be sure – the Hoyas will have a intriguing frontcourt pairing with complementary skills.

Hopkins is a pretty terrific run/jump athlete himself but opinions of him often run so negatively on these parts that we tend to overlook what he brings to the table. Overall this is probably III’s most athletic team.

I was impressed with Campbell. Long, fast, plays with confidence. Reminds me a bit of Jason Clark.

No one should be surprised when LJ Peak pushes his way into the starting line up by mid-December.
