Alex Galindo decided to transfer from Kansas today. the hoyas should be in the running for that, but in that transfer Bill Self chose not to offer Thomas a scholarship and instead gave it to Christian Moody (who was rumored to be on academic scholarship)

so the hoyas are now in the running for both Galindo and Thomas I presume.

Trust me, we dont' want DeAndre Thomas--he's not going to be an impact in Big East and is at least 3 years from being able to make an impact. He's 6'6 and at LEAST 300 lbs--and it isn't muscle. He's someone I'm hoping Illinois and Weber will want because they'll see him as their Sean May and he's going to end up more like Sean MOO.

The fact KU gave the Galindo scholarship to a Walk On over Thomas--who supposedly is so coveted, speaks for itself. Same with the fact Illinois has no interest to this point and Thomas has recruited them. We're being suckered here if GU actually thinks this guy has options--he has Mid Major Bench Player game, not Big East frontline player capability.

I agree with you RDF, that listing of 270 on rivals is very generous. i think its going to be interesting to see how weber recruits these next few years because he certainly has not gotten it done the past two. none of his recruits that he has gotten thus far are better than a three star. i think that this years run certainly should be benefitial to recruiting but what he has shown thus far is that the guy may be able to coach but he cant recruit.

No offense everyone, but I'll let coach decide. It's hard to believe it was just a year ago that Roy Hibbert would "never be as good as Jameel Watkins" and was "a complete stiff." Strangely he was immediately better than Jameel, recorded two double-doubles, won Big East ROW, gave us a memorable game-winner versus ND, and even shot close to 50% from the floor.

The kid is POY for the Chicago Public School League so it's not like he's playing Cornelio competition. He's playing in national all-star games and we're complaining about his weight. Sweets had weight problems too. Though he hasn't posted in a long time, maybe can get fitness guru John Basedow to work with him.

Giga, trust me if you saw him play as I did and my friends who have seen him have, you would agree. He's got nothing that even remotely resembles Mike Sweetney's talents and that's when Mike was overweight in HS--not as a fit College Player. Mike hustled and had great hands and footwork. He was also a good rebounder and team player.

Thomas was getting ripped on by commentators for being a black hole--he never passed the ball, he was out of shape, had no hustle and just flat out stunk.

The Chicago Public league is one of the most overrated places for talent in Country. Most kids who come from there are complete BUSTS and if he's not wanted by Illinois, DePaul, and other Big 10 teams, why should GU want him when they have to face similar competition or in case of Big East, better competition? A 6'6 overweight, non hustling player isn't what GU needs, when you can get a 6'11 JC Center who can rebound, block shots, and run the floor and are involved with a top 5 player in the Country.

Thomas has spoken of teams who were interested in him, but he's been more interested in them, then vice versa. I just dont' want Hoyas making a roster mistake with someone they don't need/can avoid taking. Especially with so much progress being made. And you can't compare taking a chance on Roy Hibbert or Jameel Watkins to taking a chance on a 6'6 300+ lb marginal player. 7'2 players like Roy can impact games with height and he has tools, still needs a lot of work, but he has ability. Thomas wouldn't start at Chicago State and that's reality.

Hey I hear you but with him recruiting schools and not vice versa, maybe he's doing the same with us. Also, if Ndiaye commits I have little doubt we'd take him first.

Still, if JTIII sees potential in this kid I have to trust his judgment.

Mike Sweetney was a tubby bitch when he got here. He turned out to be a stud. Get him out of Chicago, where the weather and food promote tubbiness, and that's twenty pounds right there. Get him running up and down the hill and get him lifting weights and he could have a big impact. Sean May isn't the svelte-type and he beat Illinois by himself.

Sean May was a consensus top 20 player in his class and Sweetney was a top 50 player. DeAndre Thomas is not anywhere near the level those two were out of HS when they were "tubby". If you watched the game I did, you wouldn't even be having this argument, he's NOT what Hoyas need for help upfront and he's not good enough to play ahead of Sead or Cornelio and see how much run they get??

how many times have you watched thomas play? it sounds like you've watched this kid play once and you're calling him a bad player, which makes no sense. what would you think if someone watched jeff play horribly in the loss to villanova and said, based on that one game, that he was a horrible player. if you don't like the kid that's one thing, but to say he's not a good player based on one game is silly.

Bingo. Illinois does not want Thomas, has not offered and never will. We don't want him at Georgetown, either.

Not a DeAndre Thomas comment but read in Washington Post today that David Neal, O'Connell HS, Arlington VA will sign with Maryland. Think Hoyas had offered him.
