Silly TC. Don't you know that the only reason people don't like a movie that a particular person likes is because of a random producer credit by someone whose politics pretty much no one cares about? Not for nothing, a producer can get that credit for doing basically nothing on the film. I didn't realize it was advertised as Patricia Heaton's Mom's Night Out. I found Happy Gilmore really funny at the time. I bet that didn't get great reviews. Who produced that anyway? Now I'm dying to know. I also now have to know, do Ray Romano's politics align with my own because I always thought his show was hot garbage but I may have to reevaluate if we agree on other things completely unrelated to the drivel that he's produced creatively. Additionally, how was his show received by critics? I usually base all of my important decisions, both on what I'll watch and what I'll read and believe, almost entirely on what they say. I find that's the best way to make up one's mind about most things. Take other people's word for it. And it's just SO much easier than, you know, informing oneself. Who's got time for that? Back to the topic, can anyone give me a list of the major beliefs of each of the grips as well as the casting director on Mom's Night Out? And I've never met a Foley artist I thought I could trust. I'd like to hear what they have to say on abortion. Especially as it relates to making movies that not many people have seen. Don't get me started on CGI folks. Were there any of those involved in this picture?

Gigli was panned because, and only because, of a lighting assistant who was a fundamentalist Muslim.

You weenies all suck for bringing this thread back on topic. And just when we were starting to have a little fun at thebin's expense! I hate you all.
Also, I'm pretty sure abortion has nothing whatsoever to do with that movie. But whatever.
I, for one, have no problem with people who say that the movie sucks. Pan it all you want. As I said, I have no plans to see it. But when critics tread into language like "dangerous," or "worthy of condemnation," -- for a flippin' family comedy, mind you -- uhh no, I don't think it's a stretch to say they have a "political" motive for doing so. If you can't see that, you're not just wearing blinders, you doing it on purpose.
For crying out loud, the gorram Star Wars prequels were more "dangerous" than this movie, if only for the fact that they completely destroyed the childhood of everyone between the ages of 30 and 50. (I think it goes without saying that they are worthy of condemnation as well.)
But back to the larger point: I really hate you all.

In fairness, we've also been discussing comic book TV shows. Don't screw up Constantine, NBC! Also, while Guardians of the Galaxy is from a comic book, I think it's really a Sci-Fi movie, like Star Wars, rather than a superhero movie, like the Avengers. (Also, I've heard some people say good things about Mom's Night Out. You could go see that). Jupiter Ascending and Edge of Tomorrow have potential as well.

Also, I'm pretty sure abortion has nothing whatsoever to do with that movie. But whatever. I was trying to suggest that the original poster's advocacy of the movie had to do with Patricia Heaton and her views - one of them being her view on abortion. I don't think I'm far off on that point. Not that there's an abortion scene in Mom's Night Out. That would be ludicrous. That scene is in the DVD extras.

I want to hate Edge of Tomorrow just on principle, but the plain fact is, I've enjoyed more Tom Cruise movies than I've disliked. Oblivion and Jack Reacher were God-awful recently, but in general, I think he chooses pretty good projects. If Jupiter Ascending is more like the original Matrix and less like the sequels, I'll probably enjoy that too. One I really have some hope for in this genre is Lucy.A. Scarlett Johansson, of course. B. Luc Besson, who has a pretty damn good track record in creating excellent female action heroes.

I think I'm the only person on this thread who both a) has no interest in b-level comic book adaptations and b) actually really enjoyed the movie version of Constantine despite Keanu Reeves and probably because I have not read the comic books.

Jupiter Ascending and Edge of Tomorrow have potential as well. Upon further review, it appears that Warner Bros. may disagree with your optimistic assessment of a space opera starring Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum...

No fact refutation, more ad hominem invective – quod erat demonstrandum.
And no response to the question: At one time, to obtain a Georgetown degree, it was necessary to pass a course in Logic. Is that still a requirement for a Georgetown degree?

No fact refutation, more ad hominem invective – quod erat demonstrandum. Will you knock it off? No one is refuting anything because no one cares about your bomb throwing or your arguments whatsoever. We'd rather talk about Guardians of the Galaxy. I'm sure two weeks from now you'll come back to this thread and play the victim again because of your desperate need for attention (yes, that was ad hominem!) and complain about the lack of logic classes at Georgetown, while ignoring that no one actually addressed any of your posts whatsoever and that the conversation was mostly about how badly they are screwing up Yondu and where the heck is his mohawk?

Now can we just change the name of this thread to "2 box office flops" and move along?

I had low expectations going into Ninja Turtles, but boy, that movie was just bad. It's a shame given how fun the source material is. Not a good sign when 20 seconds of elevator beat boxing is the highlight.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Some fun facts.
ROTTEN TOMATOES [8/16] Guardians of the Galaxy - a Marvel Space Opera 92% of critics liked it –"Gunn appears to remember the high of certain kinds of moviegoing, where when the credits are over, all you want to do is get back in line and enjoy the whole thing again."
BOX OFFICE RECEIPTS Guardians of the Galaxy - $176M
Since the free market is always right, Mom's Night Out is awful and the Guardians of the Galaxy is awesome.

Well, Guardians of the Galaxy IS awesome.
I honestly didn't know what to expect going in, but it was one of the most entertaining movies I've seen in a long time.
And I don't even like 70's music.

It wouldn't have made that much if they'd have asked one of the assistant PA's about his views on abortion.
