Todd Mayo Marquette's leading returning scorer "left school to pursue his pro career". Seeing as it's basically August I doubt he just decided to go pro and clearly he wasn't welcome back at Marquette. Now now, maybe there were sudden family financial issues that required him to earn a paycheck. Bottom line, it weakens a Big East team with a prominent name. Paint Touches @painttouches · 18m A source I spoke with last year was "amazed" Mayo had made it this far at MU with all his off-the-court incidents. Paint Touches @painttouches · 22m Hm.. RT @goodmanespn david_Harten You really expected Mayo to play a game for Wojo? There was NO shot of that. None. Sometimes you just need to call a spade a spade. There was no such financial issues with his brother making millions. On the other hand this opens the door much sooner for the very solid class they just signed.

Perhaps he really just wanted to get his pro career started.

I guess my tongue in my cheek did not translate well in writing.

So, how screwed are we when the big 5 conferences get their autonomy? I assume GU can't/won't opt in to those rules if given the choice?

Each conference will have to decide whether it is in or out on big-time college basketball. With what Fox is paying for the TV rights, I have to think the Big East would opt in. But it will be expensive and painful. The worst part is hearing the Big 5 conference leaders portray themselves as progressive reformers when they are just pressing their money advantage and reducing the opportunities for non-Big 5 schools to compete.

But it will be expensive and painful. The cost to add cost-of attendance to 13 men's basketball scholarships is roughly $50K, which represents 0.5% of the program budget. Add $57K for the 15 women's hoop grants. Georgetown doesn't have to offer it to all 750 athletes to be competitive, and won't. finaid.georgetown.edu/cost-of-attendance/undergraduate/

That's a lot of $5,000 stipends.

So the reports of our death have been greatly exaggerated?

Providence is so good (or bad) that they can defeat themselves. From the photo caption: Mar 15, 2014; New York, NY, USA; Providence Friars guard Bryce Cotton (11) celebrates after defeating the Providence Friars to win the championship game of the Big East college basketball tournament at Madison Square Garden.

Unfortunately that is old data the author screwed up. It's Pre Split BE revenue figures not last years profit figures unfortunately at least from discussions I've seen.

They’re not even the best combo in the Conference. Nova and it’s not close. Nothing wrong with being confident though.

We've generally had no problem containing Harrison, but for the good of the conference, hopefully they do well generally (except against us).

Lee Reed @hoyasad 14h14 hours ago Great win for @guhoyasmsoccer over Maryland 1-0. Hoyas show Grit vs crosstown rival #HoyaSaxa
Think that’s the first time Gtown “officially” has beaten UMD in Soccer.

Yes but rather than saying we're 1-28-1 against them I prefer to think of it as being undefeated against Maryland Since 2009.
