First, I'll say that a lot of these MSG discussions start with rumors, so I will hesitate before condemning the Big 10, but if these conferences are really pushing on MSG to dislodge the Big East, that's just wrong. If they want to have discussions about doing it earlier in the week, fine, but I cannot imagine the Big 10 would ever go for that.
Second, the Big East offers MSG what the other conferences cannot - a steady tenant that will occupy MSG during tournament week every year. The ACC will never do that because of the North Carolina interests, and the Big 10 will not do that because it just doesn't work with their geography. At least the ACC has some schools well within the New York area. Aside from Rutgers and Maryland, it just doesn't make sense for the Big 10 (and neither of those schools looks to be atop the basketball world in that conference anytime soon). I'm sure it would draw well since those state schools have huge alumni bases and it would be a novelty (first time in NY, etc.), but I just don't see how it's in the long term interests of the conference members.

Saw the front page story about the conference meetings, and exploring a BE-B12 series. The conference powers are certainly working hard to advance the brand and ensure challenging scheduling across the board. Also squashing the expansion talk, at least for the near future.

Not sure I'm remembering this correctly but I'm pretty sure we were deciding between Semaj and DSR. Looks like we got the better end of that deal. What was Semaj thinking, he barely got drafted?

He'll still get paid and won't have to go to school. That's enough for some.

Is the NCAA trying to reinforce the fact that they're both biased and ineffectual? If so, well played NCAA. Well played.

OT but huh?? www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=16165Here’s the Chicago Tribune reporting a Rick Brunson story that would work quite well as an episode of your favorite investigation-focused TV show: Former Chicago Bull Rick Brunson used the name of a retired NBA superstar to book an appointment with a massage therapist who he allegedly attempted to sexually assault at a Vernon Hills fitness center, according to a newly released police report. Brunson was charged last month with attempted sexual assault and aggravated battery after an incident April 2 at Life Time Athletic center. The employee at the fitness center had notified Brunson that she would stop giving him massages in 2013, due to a undisclosed prior problem with him, according to the heavily redacted Vernon Hills police report. Brunson, 42, was arrested June 25 in connection with the latest incident, according to the police report obtained by the Tribune through an open records request. He had formerly booked massages with the alleged victim 10-20 times over a three-year period “always using his name,” the police report stated. On April 2, “she was surprised to see Brunson when she walked into the massage room since the name in the appointment book was not Brunson’s but listed as Patrick Ewing.”

If you're going to use an alias while committing a crime, maybe you shouldn't pick the name of a famous person....

Todd Mayo Marquette's leading returning scorer "left school to pursue his pro career". Seeing as it's basically August I doubt he just decided to go pro and clearly he wasn't welcome back at Marquette.

Seeing as it's basically August I doubt he just decided to go pro and clearly he wasn't welcome back at Marquette. Now now, maybe there were sudden family financial issues that required him to earn a paycheck. Bottom line, it weakens a Big East team with a prominent name.
