Oh I don't doubt that he's better than Bolden. I'm just saying, jumping on a high upside guy early just because we might miss out on others has its own pitfalls. From the recruitniks on HT, it sounds like we're in play with Rabb, Comanche, Dickerson, and Govan among '15 bigs. I agree we need to have back up plans, so if these guys start dropping, we aren't sitting around hoping to finish in Rabb's top two. But while I agree you take any one of those guys that's willing to commit first, I don't think you expand that and take any 3 star with a high upside who's willing to commit before anyone of those 4 guys. There's a fine balance between hurting yourself through wishful thinking and hurting yourself through locking up scholarships. This kid should stay firmly on our radar, but I don't think there's any reason to run out and sign this guy tomorrow. Yeah, I understand where you're coming from. I think I'm just nervous about our big man recruiting. I'm worried we'll miss on Rabb/Comanche/Dickerson and then lose out on our backup plans because we slow played them. As a result, we'll be desperately searching for another spring signing like Moses or Hayes...

Cuse just offered recently pulled this off one of their boards…
He is a legit 6-9 and is not thin, he has a large frame and is strong and adding muscle. He scores mostly on dunks and put backs but has some strong post moves as well. Good athlete with good footwork. His school has had 5 or 6 high d1 kids over the last 7 years so these coaches know what they are doing too. Ted has improved year to year and I expect he will improve more.
I saw his final game this year and Ted had 34 and 18 against a 7 footer who is headed to UCLA. Ted dominated him.
I think the SU player that Ted reminds me most of is Rak Christmas. He's a 5, not mobile enough to play a 4 in our zone. He's not huge for a 5, but big enough.
I consider his shot blocking to be average for someone his size. My opinion, he's not a quick leaper. He can jump but it takes time to gather himself. As a result, I don't think he'll be as good a shot blocker as Rak. Of course against typical high school competition, he has plenty of blocks, but that doesn't mean much, everything will change when he starts playing against comparable players. Average shot blocker, better than average scorer, better than average rebounder, better than average speed (all relative to ACC bigs)
FYI, As I understand it, Ted is from Africa and has not played basketball for more than a few years. Potentially much more room before he hits his ceiling.

www.gatorcountry.com/florida-gators-basketball/florida-gators-basketball-recruiting/kapita-excels-rebounder/He was 5-9 from the field with three dunks and a couple of short banks, both from the right side of the lane. On his only free throw attempt of the night, he showed nice mechanics and put good rotation on the ball although the shot was a tad on the flat side. Defensively, Kapita was hindered by a pair of quick whistles in the first quarter that sapped some of his aggressiveness. He did finish the game with six blocked shots and he altered four others, but he was so conscious of getting that third foul called in the first half that he played flatfooted almost the entire second quarter. When it came to rebounding, instead of waiting for the ball to come off the rim in his direction, Kapita the ability to keep his feet moving while he tracked the ball down. “Rebounding is what I do best,” Kapita said. “I like rebounding because it helps my team win. I have to get rebounds or else we don’t win. Rebounding and defense are what wins championships.”

www.floridatoday.com/story/sports/2014/04/10/florida-air-academy-players-spark-interest/7536633/"(Kapita) runs the floor really well and has good post moves, he's more of a center," Goporo said. "(Johnson) can play point or he can play combo. His offensive skills are out of control." Goporo, who has had more than 40 players sign college scholarships and owns five Class 3A state championships, said there has been so much interest from schools like Kansas, Texas, Connecticut, Richmond, Georgetown, Florida Gulf Coast and others that he wants the two to start putting serious thought into cutting their leaders down to between three to five schools before making official visits. Most schools want both, a few are just recruiting one of the two. Kansas coach Bill Self is after both and is planning a visit in the near future. Georgetown coach John Thompson III is also planning on being in Melbourne in the next week or so

www.gatorcountry.com/florida-gators-basketball/florida-gators-basketball-recruiting/kapita-excels-rebounder/He can’t keep track of all the schools that have contacted him, but when asked if there are any that stand out, he quickly rattles off Florida, Texas, USF and Kansas. Assistant coaches from Georgetown (former Montverde Academy head coach Kevin Sutton) and Texas (former Florida assistant Rob Lanier) were there to watch him play. Kapita has already visited Florida unofficially and he is friends with Florida power forward Air alum Will Yeguete, a native of Cameroon whose family settled in Bourdeaux, France. A college decision won’t be made anytime soon. “I will listen to my coaches and I will take some visits,” Kapita said. “I don’t know when that will be. I just listen to what my coaches say.”

Ted Kapita of Huntington Prep (WV) - He isn't on the AAU scene, and that has led to him being a surprise. After deciding to transfer from Florida Air Academy (FL) to Huntington Prep (WV) - despite coach Rob Fulford's departure - last week, the spotlight has now followed him. Built similar to Syracuse's Rakeem Christmas, he runs the floor extremely well and finishes extremely hard at the rim. He is active but laid back at times. His defensive rebounding and ability to get up and down makes him a special presence. Kansas, Florida, Georgetown, Texas, South Florida and others are involved with the No. 86 player in the nation.

From Rivals review of Friday's LeBron camp... Power forward Ted Kapita plays a lot bigger and stronger than his listed 207 pounds. A relentless athlete around the rim with great length (near 7-foot-3 wingspan on a 6-foot-8 frame), Kapita is a high motor guy who rebounds, runs the floor and is a power broker around the rim. Already ranked No. 74 in the class of 2015, he has a lot of upside. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1658397

Going to end up a 5 star on most sites.. Beast Do you know if there's mutual interest? Meh..Probably not rumors of shady business here fwiw. A few schools that were recruiting him before have backed off as a result... Either way the people he has around him are pretty tight lipped about listing colleges so can’t say for sure..
